I still feel the player(s) we end up buying this window haven't been linked to us as of yet; just can't see anyone aside from Chadli (even he's not been mentioned by ITK's IIRC?) coming in... Whether it be down to their excessive price tag or other reasons. Meh, probably just my tired ramblings.

BOF, who posts on SC only occasionally now, more's the pity, kept a very comprehensive record of players who were linked with us. Very, very few of them were first named by ITKs. Up until 2008 or 2009 I kept a tally of ITK posts; only a very small percentage of them turned out to be accurate.

Interesting that. I guess press gets wind of it/leaked by said players' agents... Then we really on the ITK's to give us an update on how the deal itself is going.

this I understand but it is kind of hard to think of available players, that are within our reach, that would make us stronger straight away. Chadli seems decent but can he slot right in? Holtby seems to be finding hes feet still. Benteke sure but 25m£.. Still think he is the best option from premiership. Higuain would be quality but on this we have to wait and see if there is any takers with CL. At Lb can't think of, other than Baines, that would make us straight away stronger.

It's hard to think of anyone that's a sure thing but some risks should be taken Strikers should have been signed - it may not have made a difference but at least it would have a chance of success.

Great post (in my opinion). Ironically, JJetset said a few months back that things change VERY quickly, when it comes to transfers. The reason I said "ironically", is because you don't need to be 'ITK' to know that, when it comes to the transfer of ANY player, things can/will change very bloody quickly.

There's nothing at all that suggests 'ITK' was wrong about David Villa. It's practically been confirmed that we were willing to pay significantly more for him than he was eventually sold for, and that he had personally agreed to come to THFC. Then, at the last minute, a club in his native country, where his family preferred to stay, and also in the Champions League, came in & made their interest solid. How can we compete with family?

People sometimes need to remember exactly who they're supporting. It's only in our minds that we think we support the best club in the world. The reality of the situation is that we absolutely don't!!

ALL of the ITK's that are allowed in the RO on here are 'vetted' & must confirm their sources, yet we still get people coming on & saying they're full of shit & pointing out how wide of the mark they are, despite the simplest knowledge of real life allowing you the ability to deduce that a transfer can be undone in a matter of seconds, via email, fax, phone call etc etc..

Once more people are able to acknowledge these simple truths, this site will lose less members, due to fewer people opting to use take advantage of having an upstairs window.

'ITK' is just rumour with a little more justification or basis....... better class rumouring if you will........ Far too tenuous a link to justify the explosions we read.....

Example.... The Croatians were 'rumoured' to be coming to spurs, now its 'rumoured' that they aren't ......... The basis for self harming ? or a 'doh that's a shame' moment.
Another similar example...... Megan Fox was 'rumoured' to be waiting in my bed wearing Angelina jolie like a food bag, and fuck all else, she was also 'rumoured' to have been extremely keen on me, Angelina and her getting it on big style...... Then, all of a sudden it was 'rumoured' by her lawyers that miss fox has no interest in joining me and furthermore had never visited my training ground to discuss said liaison. As a result I had to delete all that facebook and photoshop nonsense......

Mind you I did a form of self harming along the way because im a hypocritical bastard

With all due respect that sounds a little naive. There have been people posting in the RO in the past that for whatever reason have ended up coming out with a stream of lies and subsequently getting banned from here - even if a small percentage of their stuff was vaguely accurate.

There is nothing wrong with being a bit skeptical. For instance there's one guy making the RO at the moment that I'm 99% sure is completely full of it. Not a problem - I just stuck them on ignore. No need to insult them or get angry.

Rob and A&C can only do so much, but there will always be some types (usually the ones who need an ego boost after too much coke on a Friday night) that can't stop themselves from bullshitting. If you think everyone on the RO is 100% genuine without the slightest bit of embellishing, you're setting yourself up for a fall.

I suggest calm. We missed an established superstar in David Villa - its a hell of a blow to take. ( Chelsea and City missed Cavani and Falcoa, much younger and worth more)

We've also (maybe) missed a couple of Croat kids that nobody here (I think) has ever seen play football.. And I don't think I've seen anybody sign anyone young that scares me yet (Schullre - but thats Paulinho money so not exactly a kid)

would not trust Daniel Levy to sell me a used Ford Sierra but PERSPECTIVE?

At the moment Chelsea have still got Torres as their main man (oh, soory and BA), City have the wonderful Aguero and Dzeko and Arsenal have the same shit in another year

It's all about making a business decision (a good bet)...after Villa comes the new Bent (benteke - scary how close that's spelt), somewhere after that will come Bony and I imagine there's a reason nobody is competing with the might of Swansea for him (a lot of professional experts think he will be average -they may be wrong)

I would like to start the season with a new striker, and a new left back as as much as I love Benny i think hes toasted most of the time - he plays and talks and even does his hair like he's toasted -he's toasted. What I want though and what is possible are not mutually exclusive..

If you really must. I rated it a 'Doh' and not disagree because I truly don't believe that will happen. Yep I know all the crap about a last minute bid for LD. I'm off on only a week's hols at the end of next week - I'll also bet you that we have Benteke by the time I'm back. Totally fed up with moany bar stewards to tell you the truth. See a post I made just a few minutes ago about boring - that about sums it up.

I also get neg reps from time to time (probably deserve them) and also hope that people would actually respond rather than just give me a neg I must admit. I don't hound them though, but I don't lurk 'in the shadows'.

fair enough, and ill rate you for coming out and saying that rather than just a cheap doh rating. I've just seen this pattern 5 or 6 times now to think the club will suddenly do business early. Especially meeting villa or inter's asking price at this stage. I find it more likely that dan will wait till the final week as usual and then basically say to these clubs, "look the transfer window closes in a week, you ever take my money now or you possibly end up never getting this amount of money again for Player X"

its a fair strategy to be fair for a club with our limited resources but it can lead to massive problems

prepare yourself for us starting the season with JD and Ade.

It's our way, we do one really early signing, and then we wait till the final weekend of august to sign the rest on a cheap. we'll never change, the chairmen's method of working.

However frustrating it is...we would still be on a better position to start the season than we have in past seasons....unless bale goes aha

I'm amazed as to how quiet the big ITK's are.

And where's Burt? Hasn't wrote a piece in god knows how long.

just a feeling here but I think the club is kind of shell-shocked about the Villa 180 and we were banking on him coming. Villa would have left us in a position of strength at striker as we could then sell Defoe at our leisure while looking for a cheap/promising 3rd choice striker and the lower priority wing forward and LB positions and selling off the fringe. Now we're scrambling, as seen with the Benteke interest where he's issuing a transfer request and it's unlikely we'll even sign him, and there's a severe dearth of acceptable/willing/affordable striking targets there.

I also think leaks are pretty well closed up, the Dinamo kids would have been a massive deal and we only heard mention from JJetset the night before Dinamo basically said they accepted our bid.

I haven't heard anything from AVB even about being back in training, reacting to Paulinho's signing, or at all this summer other than through Burt on PSG, and nothing from Baldini except the announcement on the OS. I would have expected a media blitz this week between the kit release and the start of pre-season.

Exactly right. We have a new, highly sort after midfielder, Ade for a pre-season, Bale is a better player now then the start of last season and last seasons signing's have had a year (or half a year in Holtby's case) to get use to the team, training etc.

Personally I think Ade will be better this year. A bit like how he ended the season once he had his fitness, confidence up etc.

With the same respect shown in my response, I can only speak from personal experience of this site. I've only been an 'official' member for just over a year and, since I've been more regular on here, the MODS are much more strict than they were when I just used to read the site. (maybe just interacting on here has made me see it differently?).

I only have to look at the info we've had from 'looklikemodric' over the last week or two. The guy has been absolutely 'bang on point', yet he is still yet to be allowed into the RO. To me, that speaks volumes about the 'vetting' of our ITK sources.

Remember, many of these ITK sources were verified a long time ago, yet their own sources are constantly changing, if not disappearing altogether. It's only natural that some of them lose their 'info mojo', whilst others come onto the scene with fresh info from fresh contacts, thus relegating former believable ITK to the bench, so to speak.

I think, now, that those in search of an ego boost are weeded out excellently by everyone who runs this site. Just my personal opinion, SK
