11 is not that big a number when you consider Gallas Bentley and Bostock have already been released.
There will be at least half a dozen youngsters being loaned out.
Add to that 3 or 4 more senior players to make way for the upgrades and it all makes for a good summber of business

11 isn't a big number if we are talking about what you've mentioned. I mean that's already 5 accounted for.

I think it has something to do with it not being that funny to start with and it plainly untrue. He's a big guy and is pretty slow but that doesn't make him fat. There are plenty of photos of him with his top off which show him to probably have less fat on him than the majority of people posting on this forum.

Also, I don't think being paid lots of money makes people immune to abuse. Actually I think the secret footballer talks a lot about this fallacy and that many players develop a hate for the fans because of the abuse they give on the field and the perceived fickleness of the fans.

Tom, is that you?

Don't worry big fella its nothing personal

Interesting. We only have 24 players at the moment. I don't include Gomes as I'm sure he'll just be loaned out again.

This includes Rose, Carrol and Townsend.

If we get rid of 11 and add 6 (his higher number + Paulinho), we have 18 players. And 3 of them are youth players.

Potentially very thin.

There's a few of our promising youth players that aren't u21 eligible anymore that need space in the squad we need to make room for - Smith is one, Caulker and Carroll as well potentially?

The beast speaks ....

Speaking to Lancenet he said he will try to help the Brazilian international in adapting to life in England just like Gomes had done with him when he first arrived in 2010. He revealed Gomes was key in him settling into life in the Premier League and hoped he could do the same with Paulinho. Despite the added competition for places in the team’s midfield, Sandro said he was happy that the Brazilian had chosen to sign for a 'great club' like Tottenham Hotspur.

“I just have to say 'Welcome to Tottenham', Paulinho. I am very happy. I'll try to do for him the same thing Gomes did for me when I first arrived. When I came here, he was the guy key to me adapting. If Paulinho needs it, I'm here to help.

"I think he has everything to do well here... Paulinho will help us become even stronger, for sure."

It was confirmed yesterday that the 24 year old was heading for the Premier League after months of speculation with regards to his future. The player revealed he was going to be joining Tottenham Hotspur after the club met the £17m buyout clause set out in his contract with Sao Paulo club Corinthians.

He listed 7 senior players

There's not an abundance of wiggle room

Out of the 1st team squad, the only players that I think we need to shift are Gomes, Defoe, Hudd and one of Naughton or Rose. I'd rather keep Parker as experienced cover but if he wants to play week in, week out then fair enough, let him go.

So are we assuming the 4/5 new players don't include the Croatian kids? Potentially could it not be Villa, Soldado, the kids and a new left back... Otherwise we would potentially looking at 8 signings in total!?? I just can't believe that... Then again 11 out sounds crazy too

I would keep Gomes to be honest, I quite like the fella and it sounds like he has had his confidence returned after his loan spell.

If he was also instrumental in helping Sandro adapt, why not have both to help Paulinho and keep that team spirit and really make him feel like he has found a new home.

Not only that, Gomes is far from being crap goal keeper, with his confidence back we could well have 2 of the best goalies around so why waste time of looking for another?

I read that list of 11 as more an indication of who is available and who we're content to move on if the right offer comes in.

Will be interesting to see how these pans out

Mentioned in the post:

Adebayor
Defoe
Dempsey
Livermore
Parker
Huddlestone
BAE

My picks:

Gomes
Falque
Kane
Naughton

That's eleven that we could do without.

depends who is coming in i guess!

i worry about wholesale changes, in relation to the continuity of what was quite good last season

plus we suffered from lack of depth last season

Nice guy, but he wants to play. His contract is winding down now too. Also a good chunk off the wage bill. As you can see from Sandro's Twitter and Instagram, he's built up a good circle of Brazilian mates in London, so Paulinho will have plenty of peeps around to go eat feijoada and dance samba.

A little worrying that Swansea stoke villa and co are signing all these young stars from Europe for a couple of million. Wonder why we aren't

I would love if Gomes stayed as our number two...he's too good to be a number two though - even with that over zealous style of his!!

This makes sense. You lot can go for the right money, if not you're part of the squad but you can't expect to start regularly.
Dress that up in some flowery language that makes them feel special & they'll all be fine with it.

They're signing players a level down with the new TV money. We're only going for top class additions like Paulinho, Villa. Don't forget we may be signing two of the highest rated talents to come out of Croatia, a country who knows a thing or two about young footballing talent.
