My ideal conclusion now...
Lloris/Butland, but I'd accept the Aussie kid as a project instead.
Hall/Fryers to be confirmed.
Sahin/Moutinho/M'vila to replace Modric (Sahin is unlikely, but as he's not been officially ruled out, I'll leave him on the list)
Nir Buton as a midfield project.
Aubameyang as the wide forward option (cheaper than Remy and still an option up top if required too).
Adebayor and Leandro in.

That seems like a lot, but in reality Hall, Fryers and Adebayor, are rumoured to be all but done, so not as many deals as it looks really.

I realise this may require significant outgoings, but since Bassong and Modric are imminent departures, Jenas has also been linked with a one way trip to Sunderland, and Defoe also possibly leaving, ontop of Pienaar, Kranjcar and Corluka having already been sold, and Saha & Nelsen released, King retired, I reckon we'd be pretty much covered.

Chelsea do need a striker, but will Abramhovic be willing to fork out another huge fee to land Llorente? I fucking hope not, I love the big man. My number 1 choice he is.

Going on recent history I'd say he would without a second thought.

Plus if the Juventus rumours are to be believed then the fee isn't actually that big, around the £14m (€18) mark.

Thats the surprise if its true. At that level we should be in there fighting to sign this guy, he'll be excellent in the Premiership

How often do these tribunals meet? Seems he's been waiting for months, poor lad. On the dole at 18 already with all that football skill to offer
I might be wrong here, but I thought there was some itk about him playing for and training with our development squad already?

POTL on COYS re Dawson

Developments...Bids came in last night for DAWSON. From QPR, Stoke and Sunderland. This is the transfer window, changes at the drop of a hat. QPR and Stoke accepted.

A few need to read between the lines a bit more. Ade is coming and it now seems likely that Leandro will join him.
Explanations for this view are littered thoughout the last couple of days ITK and Twitter threads.

Not even ITK, he's been openly playing for the development team since a few weeks after the link was made.

I'd be sad to see Dawson go. Not the best football player out there, but his passion is so inspiring, I wish him the best wherever he goes.

POTL on COYS re Dawson

I have to say it is really interesting developments with Dawson as i'm really surprised we are looking to offload him in this transfer window but what it suggests to me is that we've had fairly substantial bids for him and offers 'too good to turn down'.

now remember when I said that there could be some surprise exits. I'd say the reason these bids for Dawson came in was because we touted him around.

Yes but remember we've gone through these tribunals before and know that the lower figure tends to win out. Routledge and Bostock being the prime examples.

Coupled with the fact that he's only been involved with the first team twice, £8m is hugely optimistic. Verts cost us less than £2m north of that.

Given that we're bound to whatever figure the tribunal sets, we must be confident.

Imagine the reason that we don't land a Leandro or Llorente is that we've had to spunk nearly half their fee on Ezekiel Fryers!

Im not palming this off as ITK, but on speaking to a Utd senior pro that I've been close friends with since we were kids, he said that Fryers is no better than than the two LB we already have. I then asked 'what, not even Danny Rose'? to which he replied with 'nope'!

That kind of took the shine off of the thought that we were stealing a gem from under the nose of Fergie.

Bye, bye Dawson.

It will leave us with Kaboul, Vertonghen, Gallas, Caulker, Bassong. Plus Livermore and Walker can both cover centreback in an emergency.

I say sell now.

Am I right in saying that we have a wage "budget" rather than a cap per say. And all these out will easily allow us to offer our targets what they want.

You are right. This was explained a couple of years ago by a poster on COYS who was either very close to 'the top table' or the most convincing WUM in history. I'm not sure about the 'easily' bit, though.

Is that just Dawson or are the likes of Rafa still in the frame for surprise exits do you reckon?
