At least we don't have to hear "We're just waiting for Man City to get the market moving...".

Completely agree. Seeing as City has just bought Fernandinho for ~30m £, and Shakhtar has spent about 7 m£ in getting Wellington Nem in as replacement from Brazil, surely Wellingtons old club Fluminense will replace him with some young brazilian from a lower league or their own academy, instead of buying someone from Europe, thus offsetting the selling clubs need for a replacement? This leaves approx 23m £ of the money that City payed Shahktar for Fernandinho, for Shahktar to spend, but the market surely "won't move", until they decide to do so?

pre signed contracts,
Signed, but contract doesnt start until the 1st?

this is the case, however it makes the transfer window semi-redundant.

Clubs can agree deals for players at any time but they don't join until a certain date. They don't announce deals early, usually, out of respect to the other team (my guess..) or to see where they finish at the end of the season. The Mario Gotze deal is an exception, and that was seen in a bad light by Dortmund fans and execs.

Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool was agreed in September, announced in the first few days of January.

spoke to Pleat yesterday
out for the under 21's - nothing that exciting but
- was watching one of the Dutch lads for Spurs
- was pleased Holtby played well so can flog him! semi serious said he hasn't done well at ours
- said we were after a big name striker wouldn't reveal who but said David Villa was a back up plan and would be on loan
- The only reason we didn't sign Bergkamp was due to image rights as Sugar refused to pay for this but Arsenal would

Pre contracts are sign soooooo far in advance of the player joining their new squad that Leandro actualy signed for us in 2009 and has actually now signed for Real Madrid from us for 65m
He will join Spurs in 2015 and Madrid in 2017

Bit early on Holtby I would have thought, but they have been watching him all the time I guess. :(

The fact David Pleat works for us is very worrying.

Club A agrees to sell player to club B for £x and B pays the fee (or first down-payment or whatever)
Club B agrees contract with player to commence on 1 July.

Both contracts are subject to successful transfer of registration on 1 July.

If for some reason the registration can't be transferred both contracts will be void due to impossibility of performance and will no doubt have a specific clause regarding the registration.

So much bullshit. :D Why on earth would we consider selling Holtby when he has only been at the club for a few months, yet we struggled to shift the likes of Jenas and Bentley because we didn't realise they were shit to begin with? :cautious:

Sugar refused to buy Bergkamp because he was still sore about how Klinsmann left the club. Vindictive old businessman who got lucky.

I'd imagine the dutch lad was Maher. Saw a number of journalists on Twitter yesterday saying Premier League scouts were there to watch him.

Surprised about the Hotlby stuff - would expect him to get better with time and a full season under his belt. Don't think he'll be a regular next season though.

Love the Bergkamp stuff, superb. How many times over the years have we ballsed up so many 'alleged' deals and transfers. Even the Ferguson story who we are all led to be believe sat in WHL some 26 years ago and came close to the Spurs job.

Given that David Pleat is permanently baffled by life, there is an extremely high chance that he meant the mirror opposite of all that information.

Which makes for rather good news, all in all.
