12 league goals isn't gash in your first season. How many did Pav get?
or 14 goals in all comps in 48 games Kuyt got as a main striker.
Pav got 5 league goals in 28 games (after Jan he was mainly used as a sub) or 14 goals in all comps in 36 games.

one played for a team that finished in the top 4 and got to a CL final the other played for a team that struggled in the first half of the season. Whats your point Bear....?

Suarez or Forlan?

As well as the decade age difference, Forlan is too similar to vdV to partner him. Suarez, while not ideal, is at least a bit more complementary.

Suarez or Cavani is perhaps a better question maybe if we're talking about Uruguayan forwards.

There's an article on the front page with quotes from Redknapp saying that he can't see it happening (Suarez)...

That said, from what we've heard, Levy seems pretty determined to buy a superstar in this window and Suarez seems the only one in that category who we could get.

I'm also amazed by some people sometimes... I cannot understand the people who don't want him at Spurs. He's scored goals at pretty much every level possible and is one of World football's hottest prospects.

Would be a fantastic signing.

14 goals in 48 games in all comps for a top side as a main striker tells me othrwise, hell that piece of shite called Pav managed the same in less games for a poorer side at that time.....

Ha! Yes, to an extent that is true I guess. I just get the feeling that Levy is going to push harder for a deal than Redknapp will do this January. It seems like that was the case with VDV.

Considering how many penalties that cheat Chamakh has won for Arsenal this season you'll have to forgive me for suspending my outrage if Suarez can do the same for us.

Problem is it's now the 6th window we've needed to address this problem of replacing Berbatov.

Of course there have been successes like RvN, Ibra and RvN.

But as well as the flops who couldn't step up to better leagues (Kezman, Alves, Huntelaar and Samaras etc) what concerns is that players like Kuyt and El Hamdaoui also who couldn't really score here yet also have great scoring records in Holland.

Remember El Ham is outscoring Suarez this season again (11 in 17 cf 7 in 13).

El Ham was young and never got a shot over here, Hunterlaar went to Madrid and had the same impact as VDV there so what does that tell you.....nothing. In Milan he was played on the wing like Lineker when he went to Barca. Yet another doom and gloom post from Dan the man. Which team was it you managed in the perm? Oh yeah that's right you just THINK you know what you're talking about!

:bang: < this is you lately

Calm down fella!

ok well I was told that we have bid about £16.5m - £17m for him. Apparently were not the only ones though. I think Lyon have as well!

After my Parker claim I was gonna refrain for a bit but....there you are....lets wait and see!

He's only 23 as well remember. Could be our 'top striker' for the next 7 years, especially since he doesn't really rely on pace
