Fair enough. I mentally put a full stop after "want". Too many years of trying to work out what ITKs who ignore grammar and punctuation are saying.
Whereas I put a backslash between ‘want’ and ‘think’.

I sincerely hope you’re right as that would make for a very exciting window, but it seems unlikely to me that we will do more than get a striker.

I think it’s a grammar issue.

I think he’s saying Watkins is one of the 2 to 3 strikers we want that BEN thinks could happen.
I think it's a list of 2-3 players, not strikers specifically, ie we still want 2 or 3 more players, Watkins is one of them and Ben thinks it could happen.

Fingers crossed we decide on 1 before the cup games start ... we really don’t have time to wait till deadline day for the perfect deal.

Sadly, the selling clubs will also recognise our urgency, which may not equate to a quick or cheap resolution.

The Goat hears that we are very interested in Said Benrahma
This isn't crazy to me - while LW isn't one of our principal needs, I think there's been rumors lately that Brentford is reducing its asking price for Benrahma. Plus, we're likely to face less competition from the other teams at the top of the table for him given their existing gluts at the position or other priorities. I could see this transfer as being one that Levy is excited about; probably not huge wages, not a huge fee; but potentially high returns down the road. And since Mourinho sees Sessegnon as a LB down the line, there's clearly a long term role for Benrahma as a squad player. I could also us playing him a little more centrally when needed, given that he's a strong dribbler and has good vision. The only concern for me would be whether purchasing him would leave us without enough $ to fill our other needs. But if we can make the $ work, I like it.

Thanks for the clarification. I honestly did not understand! (y)

Possibly also an alternative to Son. We rail about Kane not getting rested, Sonny needs a break too. He may also be future proofing for Son, we got our fingers burned with Eriksen, if we do get Benrahma and he's as good as hoped, he could be a potential replacement if we sell Son on for profit.

I'd take Benrahma based on the couple of games I've watched him.
He always looked like making something happen and all their best play came through him and he has that unpredictable air about him that makes it difficult to defend against.

Obviously don't know if he could do it in the Prem but I'd move Lamela on for him in order to find out.

Watkins > Benrahma for me
Sounds like it will all depend on the asking prices but Watkins is definitely a better fit for what we need.

Well, not just that - his self-confessed dream is to play for Arsenal and any semi-switched on player will know that you pretty much shut the door on that possibility the moment you sign for Spurs (and vice versa). Yes, they're just professionals and capable of separating all that, but he only mentioned it a few months back and so you can't rule out that he would rather join another team in the PL that would still allow that chance.
I know a few players have said stuff like that before and still joined us (Sissoko and Aurier for example), but he's turned down bigger clubs for sporting reasons before so who knows.

A home-grown, young forward is an advantage, but I wouldn't assume it's a no-brainer for him

I wonder if BEN is referring to different striker options or just the players we are after on a whole

The Goat was weaving dangerously in and out of traffic, half blinded by glare of headlights, he took a sharp left as a hail of machine gun bullets screamed past his head. Tyres squealed as the engine was pushed to the limit, at over 100mph he ran straight through red lights forcing pedestrians to leap aside for safety, suddenly a grenade went off just ahead if him, he pushed hard on the brakes, they locked and he skidded sideways, through a cloud of tear gas to a halt. Gazing up at the pursuing helicopter, he fired two quick shots at it through the windshield before opening the door, gazing at the camera and saying "we are very interested in Said Benrahma"

That better? :playful:
That’s all well and good. But does he do all his own stunts? ;)

Loads of interesting info about strikers and Benrahma. Whatever way we end up going this window has gone from loans and free signings to what looks like quite a lot of smart business. It's all got a bit exciting!
