This is my main issue. We've had years of seeing how shit they both are, how badly they cost us in key moments, yet a couple of ok performances and suddenly they're reborn?

No. They're not good enough. Neither is Winks.
but either no club wants them (dier) or they refuses to leave (sanchez and winks) what can we do? just terminate their contracts?

What same old shit would that be?

Yes we got ourselves some ace first team signings like Romero and exciting talents like Gil but we cannot deny that this window (so far) does not address the major issue in the squad i.e a good cover for Kane. I would say this window is similar to 19/20 - Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon but look at how our goals dried out when Kane was injured.

So there you go, this is my take on the same old shit again

The term 'rebuild' has been so overused it's unreal. There's no such thing as a complete rebuild at the top level. You just make changes in each window over time. The supply chain dried up a few years ago but we've got back to it the last 2 summer windows. We've also gone back to using the loan system that has worked so well for us. If we signed Skipp and Sess people would probably be a lot happier than they are now yet we would be no different. It's also not very common for players to perform in their first season so expecting us to get half a dozen or so signings and have them instantly improve us is unlikely. It's more likely that Reguilon and Rodon kick on going into their 2nd season than our new signings. Maybe 1 or 2 will hit the ground running and then others will take time.

Anyway I've seen similar concerns and worse under Poch that were followed by our most successful seasons in the Premier League. The truth is we don't really know how the team will perform and should give the players we already have a chance. We have a very young squad with a high ceiling.

MELTDOWN?
Really?
Are you serious?

It is not about bringing money in before we can buy! It is about freeing up a space, then HG quota etc. I mentioned a long time ago, if Winks as an example went, we would bring one in. Our priority was defence. We bought in Romero, and now Emerson. Sanchez stayed, and looking reborn, same with Dier.

we bought in an exceptional attacking and creative talent in Bryan Gil. Kane stays! We try and try at the price Wolves wanted, and terms they wanted. We up our price, and they simply as things stand, don’t want to sell.

Thus far we have done exceptional business: Gollini, Romero, Emerson, Gil. Sarr (loaned back). Total (creative or not) Approximate=150m

yes! I know many will argue actual spend against etc, but still smart and sharp.

I expect at least one more aside from Emerson. We thought with Mendez we had Traoré nailed. But Wolves bottom of league, feel if they sell him now, they are as good as relegated. Relegation they loose out on near 150m.
Shame we didn't identify Traore as a major target back in July.

-Kept Kane
-Replaced Alderweireld with Romero
-Managed to swap Lamela for a highly rated youngster in Gil
-Signed another highly rated kid in Pape Sarr
-About to replace Aurier with a superior player in Emerson
-Could still sign another forward in the next 24 hours

Great transfer window - club with a plan.

That is a Gooner's take on our window so far on Arsemania. They've spent £130m and are in meltdown over their window.

You could add the fact we got money for Sissoko, signed Son to a longer contract and have brought Lloris' replacement. All in one window. And it hasn't closed yet.

And we're presumably getting much better performances out of players who didn't perform. That 'terrible defence" still hasn't conceded a goal.

Not having a decent back up for Kane - how many seasons is that now?

Leaving a problem area in right back until the second last day of the window.

Failing To shift deadwood such as Aurier, Doherty, Davies, Winks etc and leaving it to last minute as per usual (same old shit).

Players have to want to leave, sensible offers suitable to the club have to be made.

Do you know categorically that the reason for said players not moving thus far are as a result of Spurs' failures as a club. ??

Finger point by all means, but at least wave that sucker in the right direction.

-Kept Kane - yes we have a one year older Kane hopefully he will keep fit
-Replaced Alderweireld with Romero - i would say like for like and time will tell if Romero will have impact first year,
-Managed to swap Lamela for a highly rated youngster in Gil - What about Bale?
-Signed another highly rated kid in Pape Sarr - Still in France
-About to replace Aurier with a superior player in Emerson - Superior? in defense hopefully. Attack would say the same
-Could still sign another forward in the next 24 hours -Hopefully. Still not replaced Eriksen either. Which sticks out like a sore thumb when we are trying to control games

i will save my meltdown for 24 hours, but it is looking grim, would hope we would be in a stronger place than last year, people can not seriously say we are stronger now?

No they don't.

They do expect a better window than the one we are currently looking at.

Disagree here.
Everything has to be put in perspective. Had we sold Kane, it was altogether different window. With us coming out of a financial loss and AllyGold saying first article of summer saying we have to sell to buy...given this, this is a good window.

Also, add the context of what Nuno is doing. He is already improving our defense even without new joinees fully beded. Entire back4 seems to have new blood - so may be we thought we bring on someone for sake of it...rather given them a season under Nuno and see how they do.

Deadwoods are finally going out of this window.

Lastly, more importantly - If Emerson joins, all 4 signings joined us this season have been higher profile signings - All 4 - Gollini, Emerson, Romero, Gil all are coming from CL clubs (top leagues), leaving CL and coming to play for us. This matters very much.

I do hope we will get a forward (even loan) in addition to Emerson.
Fact that we are keeping Son & Kane , selling deadwoods, Nuno improving defense and we are able to get some solid talents from CL teams - for me this window ranks right up top in any of previous transfer windows.

Mental if wolves are worried about relegation because of their first results. They’ve played Spurs, Man U and Leicester and could’ve easily won all three. There are many many worse teams than them and I would be shocked if they went down.

Agree on the rest though

Just hope Kane and his ankles don’t become a target esp from those Chelsea CB’s. We’re a Kane injury away from having to play people out of position. For a club aiming for CL qualification that’s not enough

This is a chat about ITK. Right now that ITK suggests we are going to be left short in attack. So I think people have right to be a bit negative.

The three 1-0 wins have papered over the cracks somewhat, we’ve only scored 1 goal from open play. We’ve lost two attacking players in Bale/Vinicius who scored over 20+ goals in all comps last season and not replaced.

People can’t just only accept optimism and ignore negative comments, both have there place.

I think the window will have been good now with refreshing players, but I will feel not brining in another attacker is a big failing and one that will come back to hurt us.

So which is it? We're screwed because we can't shift our deadwood or those players are actually good enough? It can't be both.

So what happened to all these teams on the continent in financial peril that would sell up near the end of the window?

It could still happen, but they are probably hedging their bets. Hoping the nea year sees some return of normality
Shame we didn't identify Traore as a major target back in July.

He is Nuno's choice, perhaps they should have backed their man sooner?
