Could the Barca player be Afellay? Weren't we looking for a loan for him a season or 2 ago?

Indeed, he missed out quite a bit due to injury this season so I can see them loaning him out and I wouldn't say no. We can't buy every player and we will need some loan signings to give us some options and Affelay would be a good option.

Afellay on loan with the option to sign would be a great move imo. We'll want to assess him after his long injury before trying to sign him.

I could see Barca letting him go out on loan too. Both Tello and Cuenca impressed this season and with Villa back from injury, Pedro coming good again, and Sanchez, they have plenty of cover out wide.

Although personally I think he's better played in the VDV role. I think he'd make for a great backup for his fellow countryman.

I think he would be great in that he is could play on either wing or Rafa's role. Like Kranjcar with a bit of pace.
