Not saying that they are bad players, but a 19yr old with 10 career goals in the French League....certainly not "spectacular" or a game changer.
A similar record to what Hazard had at that age. These signings are exactly the kind we should be going for. The kid looks like in a couple of years he'll be out of our reach.

So far this window we haven't sold anyone we really shouldn't have or bought anyone we really shouldn't have. Still a week to go before the window closes. The meltdowns are at best premature.

I would be a millionaire. No fuckin Zimbabwean billionaire for the number of times i have heard this drivel of an excuse. 2 weeks before the season started the excuse was that there were still 6 weeks left in the window and here we are with 6 days to go and this useless excuse is still being bandied about by a large proportion of posters.

Fatpiranha this is not directed at you personally. I just can't understand why every year we have posters give this lame excuse and then when no signings of real substance are signed prior to the window shutting then these same posters go on a monumental meltdown.

Some see the situation for what it is. we have all known for several months that a DM was needed. If our top 3 targets were not interested or the sellings clubs would not do business with us we should have set deadlines and done our business earlier just like we did with the defensive acquisitions. We are not new at this game of buying players lets stop behaving like Bournemouth who are new to this league.l in how we conduct our purchases. There is no excuse for not having a DM signed up.

Poch wanted Illara as his main target so the club waited until the player made his decision. What is the problem with that? For all you know the MANAGER has indicated that he would rather we wait to see if we can sign his main target rather than leave the running early and sign up an alternative. I don't see why that is so hard for someone like you to understand?

The club are not buying players to yours or my deadline. They are trying to back the manager with players he wants.

You just need to sit down and wind it in until the window is shut.

We need to be good at knowing who would actually want to come to US, instead of, say, ManUtd, and pursue the best of those full speed forward.
FFS I'm repeating myself from May.
(And I know Trix passionately disagrees with me).

Well, there are reasons. You probably won't like them or listen to them or ever acknowledge them, but they've been done to death. And don't need to be rehashed now.

I'm actually going to tentatively disagree...
GF's info (as well as others) highlights that we most likely always suspected that potential quality players would become available close to the end of the window due to CL non-qualification.

There is little point signing players for the sake of it. We have clearly tried our main targets and are where we are, I.e. Where we expected to be, waiting for these players and clubs to agree to a sale/move now they know whether their current clubs are progressing or not and whether any bigger clubs come in.

We've not panicked as a club so far this window and have clearly not felt like we had to sign lower quality players earlier just to be done with our business earlier.

IF some of what Grey Fox comes off, then I suspect we will be happy. If not, well then it's a shame, but you're right, we are not Bournemouth. We need players who would play for top 4 clubs without us actually being top 4. That requires careful manoeuvring and a degree of luck.

Edit: sorry Stoof...

To be fair, if you look back at the ITK posts, us not having a DM by now is not through lack of trying.
You've only got to look at the list of DM targets we've had/got, to see how many haven't worked out.
If Morgan had said yes (at the beginning of the window) then all this would be moot, but as it is, we've had to go to the next option, and the next...............and the next!!

Truthfully, who'd have thought Illarramendi would prefer to go back to Real Sociedad (who finished 12th last season in La Liga), for a measly £11.8m, signing for 6 YEARS!!!

We're trying, but our luck just ain't in! :(

This, this, a million times this. Getting fed up of people carpeting the club for not backing the manager, then carpeting the club in the same breath for having the audacity to spend time trying to get those deals done.

Yeah, we're really not doing it all over again today guys. We're really not.

So unless there's any new ITK, I don't think there's too much to add to this thread right now.

Why don't you go to the player threads - please.

Who: Ari Gold
Where: Spurs Odyssey
When: 5pm

Got an actual snippet today. Take it or take it, because it's from me, and I don't f**k about.

Bolasie: Palace have to sell someone, they are worried about FFP.
They neither expect him to sign a new deal, or attract enough interest to spark a bidding war.

Spurs have briefed they aren't keen, but would do a deal on their terms. Incidentally, Pochettino and Mitchell apparently think he's improved enough over the past 18 months that his 'poor stats' aren't a major concern.

I had said I expected three in before Tuesday, but I'd go four now, because I think three of Lamela, Ade, Lennon and Towsend will be gone.

Maybe we looked into it and have since decided against it given the Son news.

I think for the price they'd want he'd be a dreadful signing.

Not particularly excited by Bolasie, particularly at the figures that have been mentioned for him.

If we were able to bring him in for the same amount we sell Townsend for then fair enough I'd call that about even, but that seems unlikely.

Not happy about the Bolasie news, REALLY think we can do better. Also with the outgoings, if we sell Townsend and Lamela Surely this means that we're looking to bring both Son and Bera.
