If I was Poch I would walk. He said it was obvious we needed a striker. I would be f img furious and wouldn't blame him if he just a walked. Levy is a complete tool

If he walk he get nothing. If he do bad he will get axed and then get whatever he was due in a massive payout.

Any chance we could get the names of players we were after?
The ones we didn't know about?

even as a BSoDL, I'm scratching to be positive today.

But the bottom line is, we have bolstered the defence and have more options going forward compared to last year. I'm struggling with the idea of only one front man, but at the end of the day, we effectively only had one last season too. I would have loved another, but the club obviously had a top price they would pay for SB, and it wasn't enough. I'm not going to castigate them for not bowing to WBAs demands if they were felt to be excessive.

I'm confident that we had targets and options identified, but it just didn't come together on the last day.

Panic buying is panic buying, whether it's at the start of the window to 'make sure we get someone in for the start of the season', or at the end of the window because we failed to get our targets. Everyone would be just as upset if we got another Rasiak today.

We all just need to chill out, get behind the team and hope for the best from Kane.

And yes, dare I say it, remember what it was like in the days before Levy. Cue neg reps.

I can be so passive about it, because I went to the Lane on Saturday and I enjoyed it. I stood up, I sang and I yelled at the ref. I supported Spurs. I saw a defensive partnership in its embryo stage. I saw Eric Dier running a midfield like he's been doing it for as long as Pirlo has. I saw Alli running with enthusiasm. THOSE are the things that matter. Add to that some pace in attack and a fit Christian Eriksen and I am happy. What we saw last year were issues with the defence. We have strengthened there. That was the priority.

Do you think Poch may have said that too? Daniel, I'm OK up top, if the right striker comes along we'll have him, otherwise I need defenders and I want TA and a new right back to get Walker playing a bit better.

I have a plan for Dier (and we have Mason and Bentaleb who played there all of last season) but if you can get a DM, then get one. But please let's sort the defence.

"We're a team in decline". Yeah right. Sorry, but it's that sort of bollocks I can't entertain. We have new signings yet to start for us. We've shipped out a load of the bad eggs and the players that weren't going to feature. Hell, we've taken, on an asset-by-asset basis a heavy hit on a lot of them.

So, potentially missing out on a striker that may or may not have improved us vs. what you're saying. Who's being the more dramatic?

I dont think we are in decline but it is feasable that we might be taking some backwards steps before we can go forwards again, just looking at how many of the middle order clubs have strengthened and possibly playing better than us currently although that may change.
From now on it will be a real scrap for us to get back in amongst the top six let alone challenge for fourth, the New stadium may help but its not the game changer that maybe the clubs thinks it will be.
Anyway nothing anyone can do now just have to see how the season pans out and see if we can get europe again next year difficult as it will be.

Firstly, 'filling in' is wholly unacceptable. It makes us out to be a joke of a club. 'Building for the future'. Let me say this, when the big offers come in for Hugo, Bentaleb, Kane et al, they're gone. We were building for the future with Bale, Modric, etc.

Modric "filled in " on the LW before moving central, Bale "filled in" at LWB, RW & LW before going LWF & CF. But I take your point, it's wholly unprofessional of us to ask a player to learn & grow. We are such fucking mugs! Just think what all the footy experts at the pub will be saying! OMG I can never have a pint in public again.

By the way, for those saying our new scouting system is useless we were trying hard to sign Martial way before Man Utd became seriously interested.

I signed Martial last year on Football Manager way before Spurs or Man U were in for him. He's a pretty well recognized target, and has been for a while. Scouting development hotspots like Lyon for talent isn't exactly hard.

As for this serious injury Kane is going to pick up.....

Where is the backup for aguero, Rooney,Costa and giroud? Generally speaking wide forwards and unproven teenagers with potential.

Really?....Are you serious?

Aguero>Bony
Rooney>Martial
Costa>falcao & remy
Giroud>Welbeck & Walcott

Thank you for a reasoned response to the window. I completely agree.
Its a decent window in that we seemingly shored up the defense and brought in a pacey upgrade to the AM3. However, that good will goes right out the window when you realize we only have 1 striker, are short at DM and have no experienced leaders in the squad. Seriously, if Kane gets hurt, we're kinda screwed.

I wonder if people had reacted the same to the Berahino deal if Peace hadn't smeared every movement all over the news. Few people seem all that upset about Wanyama despite expectations that we most definitely would sign a DM.

Disappointing either way, but onwards I guess. Looking forward to seeing Adebayor amble around the pitch in Azerbaijan.

PSA: Adebayor has always been on the first team profiles page. He never got taken off!

You'll have to take my word for it but Adebayor was not listed on the first team profiles page on the 30th of August. Checked using google cache. Unfortunately the 30th of August page has now been updated from one from this afternoon.

He was hardly an unknown though....it's not as if we unearthed a hidden, unknown gem from a football backwater.

I'm tired of the same old rubbish, we never complete the squad and as things stand Poch has shown himself to be a weak manager and a weak man. He has allowed Levy to walk all over him having publicly declared the need for a Striker, it is now out in the open that he has not been supported. I'm not sure I've ever been this downbeat about the prospects of the club, we seem to be accepting a steady slide back into mid-table mediocrity. Frankly, the stadium expansion seems somewhat pointless when playing as we do we will be lucky to fill the current stadium in a few years time.

Poch also said this regarding strikers last week:

"But it’s like when you are in love with some lady – there are a lot of women around the world but you want only one."

Which may suggest that he only wanted Berahino

So you just sit at home masturbating over her when it turns out she's got a husband...?

I'm sat at home huffing and puffing, getting angry and shouting at my iPad. My mrs comes in and says 'let me guess, transfer thread and someone has a different view to you'.

Maybe it's time to leave for a couple of days.

Yeah right, like that's going to happen.

Nevermind the top four, is there any other club in the league, from the very top to the very bottom, that has only one natural centre forward? It's farcical that we've been put into this position.
