We've already got Bentaleb, Mason, Alli, Carroll, Winks and Veljkovic, so we're not exactly desperate in this position.

Better to go for real quality (Kramer or Schneiderlin) or nothing, rather than more mediocre players who will be deadwood this time next year (Imbula or McCarthy)

Alderwield (spl) is complicated because we'll have to effectively bid 3m higher than Saints to get him. That's because Atleti have to pay Saints 3m to remove an automatic pay out clause inserted into his loan. (according to goal.com anyway).

I would be wary of signing defenders from Saints. They do well because in Schneiderlin and Wanyama, they have one of the best midfield screens in the PL. Lovren looks a fish out of water at LFC.
