it does seem that we are saving some cash up (maybe for the big signing we're all after/the new shiny stadium) we all do it to get every once in a while, beats smashing the credit cards up and then struggling to pay it all back.

also i think jj is returning the favour for the itk we got off of the liverpool itk forum about harry.

Why would we be saving up for the big signing, when any big signing would command the big wage Levy will not sanction?

Not enough analysis was made of the reason Redknapp gave as to his departure. The reason given was that the Club were going in a different direction to the one Redknapp thought we should be heading.

Redknapp stated window after window, that we were one or two quality signings away from being a finished product.

That translates to me as one or two big quality signings, finished products.

Levy took the route of DoF...investing in quality youth for the future. We have had success here.

It seems to me, that Levy is restoring, or backing his faith in this modus operandi. Buying young, quality players, an eye n the future, replacing those young quality players already at the Club who will go for big bucks...Bale.

Siggy, Fryers, Holtby....those are the kind of players we'll be prioritising long term. Hughes, Son and Belhanda, players we are showing a keen interest in.

That's not to say we won't see the likes of another Modric, Berbatov or Dembele, because we will, but these are players who we will be buying but before they have hit their full potential...hence why we've been constantly sniffing at Demaio's door. Levy is prepared to wait and play the brinksmanship card on these kind of players, and only when the price is right. He will take a hit on missing out, hence why we play these long winding transfer games such as Vertonghen.

The money is there, to say otherwise is ludicrous and nonsensical, but its not going to go on finished products whose wage command will exceed our pay structure.

Was "the new ITK-guy" confirmed as able to post by A&C? That's sort of like the sniff-test around here.

Poor poor Mr. Pink. I don't think that one will be going away anytime soon.

I believe the release clause figure has never really been established. Some "reports" state it is 3.7m, others state more around the 6m mark. Either way, it's a deal. But, I'd rather go for Moussa Sissoko on around 3m Euros since his contract ends in the summer, he's younger, and he's got a skill-set that can see him realistically cover both Dembele and Sandro's position.

I like the look of sissoko don't get me wrong. We could try and bring him in the summer tie him up to a pre contract if possible. Diame can cover both Sandro and Dembele. From what I've seen of him he is very good on the ball.

Parker, Sandro, Dembele and Diame are a good quartet of CM with the possibility of Sissoko coming in summer on a free. Would set us up nicely for next season.

5 players who all do a pretty similar job, but all lack creativity to varrying degrees. Think we'll adopt a 4-3-3 system sooner rather than later, and we'll need one ball carrier (Dembele), one destroyer (Sandro) & one passer (Holtby) IMO.

Think Sissoko & Parker would offer excellent competition/backup, but we'd still need to bring in another passer as I'm unsure whether either Hudd or Carroll are upto the job

If it were Football Manager I'd give free transfers to Jenas, Bentley, Gomes, Hudd and Gallas. Thy would Save about £200k a week!

You realise if we were to do that we'd still have to pay them their salary for the duration of their contract?

The so called 30k ST waiting list is pure spin...it is a bronze membership list, and trust me many have no interest in ST's, many not in a position to.

Why would anyone pay extra for a Bronze Membership rather than a Lilywhite Membership when they had no intention of utilising the one advantage of having Bronze? Sure, not everyone will take up the offer of a season ticket for a variety of reasons, but why pay £57 rather than £42 when all you want to do is go to a few games a season?

Can't really see us buying an attacking midfielder, we just bought in Dempsey, Sig and now Holtby, really can't see us laying out on another one sadly.
I am expecting defoe to either go on a 5 game run without scoring whilst Ade's team get all the way to the final or he'll pick up a knock ten mins into the united game.
I know it's a business and the purse strings have to be kept tight, hell i even think Levy is great as chairman, many a club would love him but there has to be a time just once where he must wake up and think we can do this rather than wake up and think about the price, then the wages for four years plus bonuses etc.
kinda want the best of both worlds lol

all doom and gloom here but better to get your hopes down now rather than when the window closes. We all pretty much agree that we need 2 players an attacking midfielder who can set up the goals on a plate and a striker who can finish these with aplomb. If we don't get the first then we should be seeing Holtby come in this window as for the second, obviously we are in for Leandro again but if we don't bring anyone in then we have Defoe who has been in fine form and Ade who we pray will get back to his good self. We also have Dempsey and Siggy who have yet to find their feet. AVB doesn't want to rock the boat if things are already going well so I'd expect between zero and one new signing!
P.S. JJ seems to be more on to the QPR signings these days - is his link connected to Redknapp and could his Spurs ITK now be second hand?

Any deal for Leandro involving Gomes seems to be off as the octopus is coming back to London today according to his instagram.
