Can I just make a suggestion this morning? It might sound outlandish and crazy, but what if we were to take all info with a pinch of salt? I know it sounds ridiculous, but hear me out...

None of the ITKs actually are Daniel Levy or Andre Villas-Boas, or even the players themselves. Information at best is coming to us second hand, but in all likelihood more like 3rd, 4th, 5th or more. Whilst I'm sure info is passed on in the best faith here, we have no guarantee that it has been before hand, whether it's old or just plain wrong. ITK should be a bit of fun and isn't to be taken as gospel. There are however the rare exceptions to this rule. Some of you will remember the Zokora story with Lennon's Jetset Boots. The majority of ITK is not like that and needs salt.

Most of you are grow men and should have been able to work this out for yourself.

Please add salt. Generously and to all ITK, not just the bits you choose to disbelieve for whatever reason, and to all posters.

We all know the way this is unfolding - We'll probably get a unfit Ade in on deadline day, Luka will be sold with Sahin coming in on loan. Then we will find out that we bid for wingers, midfielders and strikers on deadline day only for their clubs to reject us as they have no time to find replacements.

Leaving us with no suitable backup wingers (our problem for the last 2 seasons). Defoe as back up to Ade, which won't push Ade and will mean Defoe whinging to the press until January about how he should play.

At least I think it was a dream.............There were some unexplained grey hairs stuck to my old chap this morning.........

CL is worth £35m, Newcastle are possibly our biggest rivals for a CL place, I would hope Levy would not throw the Newcastle game just to save a bit of wages, I am still hoping we have someone lined up for this week

I think this is particularly telling when combined with the Twitter thread. We've swung from massive positivity to massive negativity and back again two or three more times this window simply because of a groundswell of what is often just opinion on Twitter. There is some ITK on there (as we know) but lumped in with all the other garbage on Twitter it can be very easy for people to get ahead of themselves or put the noose round their neck based on the self-important ramblings of many an 'up and coming journalist'.

It's not always wise to see the ITK from this thread in the context of the nonsense on Twitter.

I think stuff that ends up in the ITK thread needs salt. Stuff from twitter often needs salt, pepper and a completely flamboyant pinch of paprika.​

Not having a pop at you, but why would the fee of a player that is important to their club be reduced later in the window? Adebayor perhaps as City dont need him. But anyone else that belongs to a club that has no reason to sell will not become cheaper on 31st August. The selling club will have no time to replace the player.

Good point. To make an analogy, if our transfer window is represented by a ball flying through the air, very few, if any, of the itk's actually get to see the ball flying with their own eyes. Instead they get snapshots/photos from people who actually do get to see it. How the photo is interpreted depends on the person. Some people don't recognize that they only have a static representation of something dynamic, and so get overexcited and giddy. Others take it for what it is. Some itk's get photos more frequently, and get better quality ones than others. So they can to a certain extend deduce what the dynamic situation is.

Unfortunately most of us don't even get to see any pictures at all, so we just have to take the word of the people who do see them.

All the more reason we need to take advantage of our relatively easy on paper start to the season and build up a good goal difference and some confidence, Newcastle I will be happy if we get a point but we need to bash the minnows and if we lack a striker that won't be easy
