I feel like Dele was on average a decent amount more forward than his midfield partners which kinda made it like a 4231 in my mind but maybe it’s more an assymetric 433 tbh

I think Zakaria would be a very shrewd buy for €20m. We're crying out for a proper DM and he was very highly thought of until he got unlucky with an injury.

Yes and I think Zakaria would line up with the thinking of 3 defensive minded midfielders in Skipp, PEH, and DZ as well as 3 (hopefully) midfielders in Dele, Tanguy, and Lo Celso. GLC could also cover at the RW position, and it'd create a great amount of mix and match options depending on the opponent. Plus if there were to be an unfortunate injury, you'd have to think we'd feel confident about the rest of the group.

How we keep them all happy would be up to Nuno as well as the players pushing each other.

If they’re going to be playing together, then we need at least one more player in that position, as PEH & Skipp can’t be expected to play every single game.

Interesting that we’re allegedly looking at two players who can play across more than one central position - Zakaria (DM & CB) and Tolisso (CM & DM)

Are we tho? PEH and Skipp are both solid proper DMs I would think tbh.

If anything, we need an 8 who can progress the ball up the pitch and create chances since Ndombele seems to have 1 lung and hasn’t managed to impress 4 managers in a row now. Dele is wasted in a deep area too so that just leaves us with Gio who’s very injury prone.

Wish I could winner this more than once. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any inclination we are looking for a playmaker at all and it’s a big mistake imo and will hold us back.

It has definitely been a 4-3-3 with #8's either side of the anchor. Dele's fitness has allowed him to make runs into the box from LCM.

Quick question.: The Daily Sport is a newspaper with a real sport leaning- I assume that is considered a good source? Apparently we are going for two big ones up top.

I'm glad we're linked to a defensive midfielder. Hojbjerg is really a box to box midfielder like Sissoko leaving only Skipp as a deep lying midfielder. Zakaria or Skipp in that role with box to box midfielders either side (2 of Lo Celso, Hojbjerg, Ndombele and Alli) sounds ideal to me. Need to offload some first though I feel.

If true, Malmo now in CL playfoffs vs Ludogorets. If they go through, Whiteman could play in CL this season...worst case EL. That will be good for his progression

Whiteman is going to Degerfors and Degerfors’ goalie is going to Malmö.
