Not sure what’s really going on and quite frankly, I don’t think anyone does. But, I do know I’ve really disliked this week. A win on Sunday may serve as the brain bleach we all apparently need right now.
For me we should have parted ways in the summer. Saying before the CL final if we win he will quit is diabolical and should never have come out of his mouth. Saying it you an dismiss it as a joke. He then backed it up on the eve of the game. Then in the build up to this season stated again he would have quit if we had won that game. Sorry that is unforgivable. How can you motivate and lead players if they know they gaffer was 90mins from quitting and leaving. Why should the players be loyal if the gaffer is openly talking about quitting. Real winners want more and to prove it's not a fluke or lucky win. He was basically saying they arent good enough to win anything again so I'm off. Also you play your best players. Not your favs. If Jan isnt in the starting XI this weekend then the stadium at next home game will be toxic. Sanchez been at fault for 3 goals so far. Rose has been really poor as well. It's no coincidence we have looked shocking down the left side. Rose has no understanding with Sanchez. Sanchez keeps drifting to far to the right and isnt dragging rose with him. Rose has been shocking but when you tell a player you dont want him wheres his motivation. Aurier should be starting RB at the weekend but again been totally mismanaged. The buck for a lot of this stops with Poch. Hopefully we turn up sunday and go into the international break and everyone can take a long hard look at themselves and kick on.
There seems to be a seperate agenda to smear Poch irrespective of the poor form we’ve shown over the last 7-8 months. Don’t know where this is coming from. Poch obviously doing himself no favours with his inconsistent behaviour.
I still back the guy and the project. Here’s looking to Sunday for it to all come together. COYS.
Wonder if that snake dim sherwood is backYep - whoever is feeding ValenciaYid is on concerted drive to get Poch out. It's clearly a faction but a powerful one.
This is the worst possible situation. It's back to AVB/Sherwood shenanigans.
There's a thousand completely non-Tottenham reasons why Poch might not be right at the moment, worth remembering that he has a life outside of football and just like any other person his performance at work could be affected by it.
Poch could just be facing burn-out, mental fatigue is a real thing. Maybe the guy wants to take an extended break and walk away from the game for a while? It is a pretty intense profession to be in really. Fucks knows...but this isn't the end. We are just getting started! Poch is the best thing that has happened to this club for a long while, but if he did leave then we would survive and carry on. I wouldn't start to panic yet really.
He’s magic you know. On Sunday he deserves to know we feel that.
He sold the Porsche as he already had the exact same one.
Everyone ignoring the Hertyid news then. Is that because it’s good?
It’s 3 pages back ??What news?
We've always paid our managers well, what will limit us is them knowing that Enic don't throw their money around on transfers in pursuit of trophies, this might put some off.I’m really not that fearful of Pochettino leaving. It’s s completely different situation to had we not had the stadium. Yes he’s done a good job. You simply can’t say great as he’s won nothing. And it’s ridiculous to think there aren’t quality managers out there that could do just as good if not better. We are now perceived as one of the top 8 clubs in Europe. As long as the financial package was correct I’d say we could get any manager we want as long as they aren’t tied in.
Before I start, let me clarify that this is not a knee jerk reaction. This is based on 9 months of football and many, many press conferences...
Poch is done. Finished. He doesn’t want to be here. I love the man because he has given us 5 fantastic years of which I would never have thought I would see. I am grateful for what he has done but I can also see when the end is due.
I also watch football with my eyes. And our football, the style of play and the passion, has been turgid since at least late December 2018. We have lost a lot of games of football during that period. And we deserved to lose those games.
Now some could say we were tired and the lack of investment affected the squad during that period. And I’m sure that was a contributing factor to our performances. But it doesn’t stand as an excuse for sideways, boring, narrow, dull and flat football. That is tactics. And that comes from the manager.
This season, we are playing without our best centre back. Seemingly due to Poch want to make a point. But it’s a detriment to the team. We scraped past Villa. We were appaling versus city. We were lucky to have 4 points. And today, we got what was coming.
Huge issues in our transfer policy. Where is the pace and where are the true ‘spursy’ players...the ones who get you off your seat!? Huge issues with our set up. Two defensive minded players who can’t play forward against Newcastle at home? Please. Sideways football. Not passion. No pace. It’s dull and turgid with a complete lack of direction.
I watched Liverpool vs Arsenal. Joel Matip, who is not anywhere near Toby in terms of quality, was paying forward with pace, determination and purpose. That comes from the coach. When we play, Toby labours and plays sideways. It’s a massive problem because our style of football has regressed at an alarming rate. We have been left behind.
The main issue stems from Poch and his current PR brigade. You can see in his demeanour, attitude and press conferences that he doesn’t want to be here. His comments in the press and the overall arrogance of his own self importance is affecting the team. He has ideas above his station. Reminds me of Eriksen....he has won nothing and flatters to deceive when it really matters. Yes, the champions league run was amazing but we had an unbelievable amount of luck.
I love Poch. I really do. But thanks for the memories. You don’t want us anymore and that is fine. You want to better yourself and believe you can do better elsewhere. So do us all a favour and say what you really mean. Stop the cryptic. You aren’t Mourinho. If you want to go, then go. And let Tottenham continue to grow...
