With the recent reports on Dier having a hamstring issue, I guess my take on Sunday's team is:

Lloris
Doherty Toby Sanchez Reguillon
PEH Ndombele
Moura GLC Son
Kane

Replace Bale with Lucas and thats actually probably our best team even if Dier’s fit. Which really says something because Toby’s pretty much finished. Not getting Skriniar was a big miss. Really needed him.

For me Aurier deserves to start as was so good against Man U.

Would like Reguilòn at left back as well for energy and also gives us option of Davies at centre back if we’re struggling a bit there.

Same midfield three of Sissoko (who covers for Aurier), Ndombele and PEH would start with Lo Celso being an excellent option from bench to have.

Not sure about up top as Jose picks teams to suit the opposition so could be Moura starts over Lamela this time.

Bale on bench and to get some game time hopefully along with Lo Celso in second half.

Lamela starting this for me is a no -brainer.
He can use his mystical eye powers and shithousery in the first half and then Bale if fit on for the second
Job done

Well Winks must be injured as he was not on the bench for England possibly Dier as well so lets hope none of our other players come back injured . Still only have to wait until the 15th of November and there will be three more international games as the Fa in their wisdom have said they will get a new opponent to replace the New Zealand game .
You could not make this shit up even if you were J.K> Rowling . I am cheesed off with this whole situation regards England games .

I don't think Winks was injured, just did not make the final 23 man squad for the match, out of the 30 initially selected for international duty. Others not selected and not injured were released at the same time as him (Michael Keane, Tammy Abraham, Harvey Barnes), I just think his stock has gone down.

Centre back could be an issue, Dier may be injured, Sanchez is off the back of 2 World Cup qualifiers in South America and has the travel back, has Toby got another game in him at his age after playing 180 for Belgium this week?

Hugo
Serge, Toby, Sanchez, Reg
Hojbjerg, N'Dom, Gio
Lamela, Kane, Son

Bale on bench to bring on once Lamela has notched up his 4 or 5 levellers.

Lamela ________________ Son

Hart Doherty Davies Dele Lucas Bale Vinicius

Bit of a concern if we can’t field a CB or DM on the bench. I’m not sure Winks is injured though and there’s been no word I’ve seen on the severity of Dier’s injury either

I always post a team assuming the worst on reported injuries even from the most obscure sources, that way I’m happily surprised when it’s not correct.

Though fwiw if we can field a bench that strong even with the worst outlook on injuries we’re laughing, and I could put Gedson on there but decided against as we have three CMs in the first team all of whom could cope in a 2 if we wanted to go even more attacking, while Dele could probably manage 30 minutes in a 3 man midfield if he absolutely had to.

To tell you the truth, even if Winks were fit that may well still be my bench, though obviously a fit Lo Celso changes things.

Looking at centre backs, they’re the least regular position to get injured in game generally speaking so two ‘can do a job in emergency’ full backs on the bench if Dier is injured isn’t a disaster, and once again I’m not sure I’d have Tanganga ahead of either of them just to warm the bench as experience off the bench counts for a lot. Obviously I’d have him start at CB over them though.

I've been so excited by the thought of Bale, Son and Kane that I completely forgot about the possibility of Hjobjerg, Lo Celso and Ndombele. We might not see either of them initially, but so much to look forward. And this is all without Bergwijn, Lucas, Lamela or Vinicius even being mentioned.

Crazy squad.

Crazy that if we take the same starting XI that played at Old Trafford and add Bale and Vinicius to the matchday squad, you'd have:

Gazzaniga
Tanganga
Fernandes
Alli
Lo Celso
Bergwijn
Lucas

As the bench that doesn't even make the bench.

I expect we'll see a couple of changes - we never have an international break without a couple of injuries - but it's the first time in years that we've actually got proper depth in the squad which is nice to see.

I think you need a CM and a CB, as the bench is for impact but also needs to cover what happens if someone is injured or sent off in the first 10 mins. We don’t need Lucas and Bale and Vinicius. Gedson vs Dele is a tough one, but I’d probably lean Dele

Deffo in the camp that expects Bale to be on the bench, for more than just fitness or settling in - it would be criminal to leave Lamela out of the side considering how hard he's worked recently. He's bought a lot of energy to the front line and it leaves the oppo with decisions to make when he comes tearing into the box.

Bring Bale on for half an hour, I'd be satisfied with just seeing him in our shirt at this point.

Think Lamela should start. deserves it on form but that's why big managers have to make decisions which are not always popular.

i really like that lamela stays inside and helps the CM's out, as Son and Kane tend to like to be higher up (i know Kane drops). i feel lamela's tactical switch over moura has really helped us flourish in the last few games. having both wingers sitting up top and wide means the CM's have been overwhelmed.

In my head i don't see Bale charging around about helping the CM's out. i see him more in the Son mould - but let's see. i'd like to see us start with what we know then bring the bale-monster on.

GLC is out. Dier is a doubt. Doesnt sound like Bale will start but he might play. Vinicius will be on the bench. With this in mind

Lloris
Serge Sanchez Toby Reguilon
Hojbjerg Ndombele
Lamela Dele Son
Kane

Hart, Davies, Doherty, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Bale, Vinicius

I think Jose is doing some classic smokescreen tactics on Bale. He’s made it clear that Kane starts on Sunday while keeping Bale’s status close to his chest. It seems odd to emphasise Kane’s status when there was no reason to doubt that he would start. That doesn’t tell me that Bale isn’t starting, that tells me that Jose wants Moyes and West Ham to be planning for Kane and Son only.

Personally I expect Bale to start on Sunday, and I don’t expect him to feature much in the Europa League group games.

Encouraging news on Dier too - sounds like he’s only going to miss one or two games.
