Team v Norwich

The reason is because we play on the 26th and 28th and people are seeing Norwich at home as an easier game to win than Watford away so wish to rest players next week and have them fresh on the 28th.

I expect Pochettino will do a very small amount of rotation but largely agree with you. Best situation would be to win the Norwich game easily so we can sub Kane and a couple of others early.

Yeah I get that but for those of you that think Norwich are going to be some sort of push over, you need to think again. They have just beaten utd away and although it's a very poor utd, they will be full of confidence.

We HAVE to get 3pts from this game, no excuses.

We have to field our best side at the moment and to drop one of our most influential players this season, is madness.

And for those of you that are changing the team by three or four players...are you mental? Our next game is a home league game, it's not against some pony side in the Europa.

Rotate pretty heavily with the harder match (on paper) coming against Watford, away, on Monday.

--------------------- Lloris ------------------
Trippier --- Alderweireld - Wimmer --- Rose
--------- Bentaleb ------ Dembele ------
Lamela --- ------ Eriksen ------ Chadli
--------------------- Son -------------------

Reasoning:
- Give Bentaleb a start and a partner in Dembele who has been fantastic defensively.
- Lamela starts to provide some protection to Trippier. Townsend would just be a tad worrisome if paired with Trippier.
- Kane rests and Son starts up top in hopes of getting him back into scoring ways. Also gives us some more creative movement up top in what could be a really defensive Norwich.
- Defense kind of picks itself with rotation in mind.

Really?

Edit due to feeling bad after posting my original comment lol

Pick the strongest/fittest team for the next game, then assess players after that.

It's that simple same team as yesterday if available and we will probably see the usual rotation for the Watford game with the full backs dembele out and son in for lamela

I think people forget that watford play on 26th and 28th as well. Furthermore they play Liverpool today then chelsea on boxing day which will be a tough game. They are going to have to use their squad or fatigue will set in. I say play our best team vs norwich and decide a couple of days later who to rest. Watford in my eyes have bigger issues because their squad isnt as good.

I think Watford will target our game as being more likely for them to win so they'll probably rest some players against Chelsea, so I think we should against Norwich, who themselves will prioritize Aston Villa at home a couple of days later.

It would be foolish for us to just pick the strongest team with no thought for the fact we play a tough away game two days later.

Lloris

Dier Dembele
Lamela Alli Son
Kane
Eriksen can be 'rested' imo and - Son and Chadli need to get their confidence back as they'll be needed, so Son to start and Chadli to come on later. Alli may need a rest too. Dier to be rested next game.

I like the idea of resting a couple for the norwich game,

Lloris
Walker Alder Vert Davies
Dembele Bentaleb
Lamela Alli Son
Kane

Take off Alli as soon as we can

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies
Dier Alli
Lamela Dembele Eriksen
Kane

Vorm Trippier Wimmer Bentaleb Onomah Chadli Son

If Mason manages to be fit then I'd have no problem putting him in and benching Alli, but other than that I think this is the side who deserves to start, these are the players who have put us in the top four and lost only two matches this season. A week off as well before hand, the majority should be able to handle the two game in three days. It's not as though Norwich and Watford will have any more rest and they both have far less strength in depth.

Absolutely. I remember that horrible game, April a few years back, when we were chasing top four, got complacent, and Norwich rolled us over at home. Can't let that happen again.

I'd rest no more than 2 players. All up for reinvigorating the team a little but wholesale changes is not usually a good formula.

My flat mate is a Norwich fan so i've seen them a fair bit this season. They work hard as a team but lack a bit of quality.

We can beat them but can't take it too easy.

I think Dier will start every prem game unless he's injured.
as Hugo will start every game of any kind unless injured...

hugo
walker toby jan davies
dier alli
lamela dembele eriksen
kane

poch can start getting creative with the starting line up for the watford game with bentaleb, rose, son, onomah, trippier, wimmer, etc ;)(y):stop:

Please for the love of God can we beat Norwich for once home and away?
Our record in recent seasons against them is shit.
We always seem to think all we have to do is turn up and we'll win. Thats even after we get turned over.
This is a must win if we've got any ambition of finishing top 4.
Liverpool. . Tee hee.

Too much panic re tiredness.

Yeah people are going a bit overboard really.

I'd be up for resting players providing their replacements are up to standard, for example if it means resting Lamela and Ali for Son and Bentaleb then I don't see how that would make a massive difference, it's certainly not that detrimental to the team. Obviously if people are advocating resting players like Kane and Alderweireld then I agree that they both need to play.
