Looking at today’s selection I think Jose had already made his mind up that he was going to play...
Lloris
Aurier Toby Sanchez Reggie
Hojbjerg Ndombele
Bale Lucas Son
Kane

but I have a feeling Dele might get a start ahead of Lucas after tonight’s performance.

Lamela has been very good in recent weeks and Lucas, while not playing too well, scored our only goal against West Ham.
Interested to know why you think a comment discussing our potential team selection - in a thread specifically created to discuss our potential team selection - is ‘spam’, @TOLBINY.

Despite being Wolfsberger, it’s a no brainer that both Dele and Bale starts. Toby and Dier in CB

Lloris
Doherty Toby Dier Reggie
Ndombele Hojbjerg
Bale Alli Son
Kane

Jose, won't do this, but I don't care - this is what I want to see.

Lloris
Tanganga - Alderweireld - Rodon - Reguilon
PEH
Dele - Ndombele
Bale - Kane - Son

Subs: Hart, Dier, Sanchez, Davies, Sissoko, Winks, Vinicius, Lamela, Lucas

I just don't see Jose not playing Dier or Sanchez. Especially as he sees Tanganga as a RB. He has been doing well there recently too.

Really like the balance of this line-up. I do wonder though, if Jose considers starting PEH with Winks and moves Tanguy further up, in lieu of Dele. Guess much will depend on Dele's recovery time. But I feel like if is is ready to roll, he should play. It'll help his confidence a great deal. 'Cos you can't help but feel, after a game like today, if he doesn't get to start (fitness permitting), that will likely feel deflating.

Absolutely this.

Tanganga won't play CB as some people are suggesting. Mainly because Jose seems to view him more as a RB plus his lack of height for a CB against Wood and Barnes would be dangerous. However playing him at right back does add aerial ability to the back 4 (Yes I do see the irony in that whole sentence but it does make some sense...I think!?).

Rodon is perfect for this game. Known for his strength, aerial ability and bravery plus plied most of his trade in the rough and tumble of the Championships where strikers that play like Wood and Barnes are common.

Don't need to say anything about the form of Dele and Bale, they deserve a start.

All that being said, do I think this is the team that Jose Will play? Absolutely not.

I think Serge will get the nod at right back - which I'm OK with although would prefer Tanganga.

I think he will go for either Dier or Sanchez or, dare I say it, may even go for both (let's really hope not).

And I don't think Dele Will start as Jose seemed to allude to tonight. Still don't think the trust is there defensively. So I expect Lucas or maybe Lamela to be in.

Either way, whatever the team....UP THE SPURS.

Like a lot of folks, I want to see:

—————Lloris
Aurier—Toby—Rodon—Reguilon
——Hojbjerg—Ndombele
—Bale———Dele———Son
—————Kane

... but I do fear/feel he’ll start Lucas ahead of Dele.

Lloris
Tanganga, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilón
Ndombele, Højbjerg
Bale, Dele, Lucas
Kane

Hart, Doherty, Rodon, Davies, Winks, Lamela, Bergwijn, Son, Vinicícus

I'd continue to go easy on Son, he really need to refill the tank

I think it’s the perfect time for one of Ali, Bale, Lamela, Moura, Berger to become a guaranteed starter, with playing well and chipping in with goals/assists etc. Such a talented bunch, who have been underplayed, through injury and non selection, but are all relatively fresh. With hopefully the horrors of December, Jan and Feb behind us, a sway in confidence looks possible.

Id start Lamela over Dele in a central roaming position atm. Bale on the right and Sonny on the left, and big Harry up top. Bring Dele on for Bale at half time. All five can play any role with ease and fluidity. They could be unplayable, as we have seen on a handful of games this season.

PEH and Ndomballer sat behind them.

Tanganga, Sanchez, Rodon, Reggie as a flat back 4.

I enjoyed the EL game, I hope we attack and score a couple of goals, cos defensively we will concede.

Lloris

No Idea not sure Mourinho even has a clue here

Hojbjerg—-Ndombele

Bale———-Dele————-Son

Kane

Surely we all want to see that front 6 players at least once. It’s a game where we shouldn’t set up worrying about what Burnley might do to us but instead imposing our will on them.

All joking aside on the defence, would love to see Tanganga make a claim to the right back slot opposite reguilon on the left. I think Rodon deserves a shot as he has been no worse than anyone else.

Is what I'd like to see - Rodon Specifically as he's the only one of our CB that doesn't scare the shit out of me winning headers - Tang for the same reason. Think we'll see Moura, not Dele at 10 though, and likely Sanchez, not Dier based off minutes today.
