Reminds me of Fergie when he said that Nani needed to cut out the tricks. In the League most defenders would go straight at him and he would probably end up with broken legs. The first clip where he cuts past his defender looked alright. The bit in the corner, he should have just crossed it when he had the space or pulled back to wait for help. The toe tapping jig is not "creative".

He;s wickedly sick!! Still don't know why we aren't playing him as an impact sub some more!!!???

Possibly Redknapp wants to, but has a similar problem to yourself when it comes to spelling his name, so just leaves it off the team sheet.

PS: Apologies but could you confirm if 'wickedly sick' is better or worse than plain 'sick'? Ta muchly.

I don't know if this has already been posted in this thread but if anything sums up Adel Taarabt, then surely this appearance against Derby does. Fantastic skills, plenty of enthusiasm, pretty good strength and a 10% pass completion rate. If only the boy could pass...

Taarabt is the player on spurs whose ratio of (time spent arguing about on forums)/(minutes on the pitch) must be an all time record.

I remember when he came is was one in the long line of 'next-Zidane's, he did a few tricks in a pre-season game verses some league-Z side and people were penciling him in as an automatic starter.

Then his tricks got showed up in some cameo or other, and he became an object ridicule for some. And since then there is a constant ping-pong between those certain of his greatness or greatness-to-be and those who see him as a worthless show-pony.

I really think he does have potential, and since he's discovered the concept of the "pass" he seems to be improving. Who knows? Maybe one day he will be great. And he doesn't seem to have a bad attitude, he's been flogging away in the reserves for a couple of seasons, and I've not heard of him whining or trying to move on.

i just get the impression that people want to put him down, in order to be 'right' in the future. he clearly is very talented, no one can deny that. instead of focusing on the positives, and taking each game as it comes, they regurgitate the same crap over and over again: "he cant pass, he never passes etc". to be honest, the amount of times ive found myself thinking that there is absolutely 0 movement from our team, im not surprised that he doesnt pass, there is no one to pass to!

and the fact that its still 0-0 or that we are losing by the time he comes on means that what we're doing HASNT been working.

and for those of you who say he should have passed to keane and not modric, shut up shut up shut up. if he passed to keane and he missed, you would have said he should have passed to modric. EITHER pass was fine, it was modric who was at fault, not adel.

I was talking to a Morrocan friend here in Barcelona who´s big into football and he said Taarabt was brilliant last night. They all seems to think he´s the next Zidane.

He ambled/ran forward and then passed the ball through.

"been very creative"

"mostly down to his creative play".

Again. I'm not saying he might not be a good player. But to lavish these sorts of terms on him is just setting him up for a fall. He came on and added something different - granted.

But come on. He did three things of note. One was a great pass through to Modric when it was 4 on 2, and fair play that was good. The other was to hold up the pass to Bent and then playing it when he was offside, fair enough not great but that's one of those things that can go either way. The third was have a shot when there were better options on - last kick of the game.

So to repeat:

"been very creative"

"mostly down to his creative play".

Not for me. Sorry. And that's the problem I have with people lavishing praise on this kid. It's the people who go over the top.

You have a point, I have noticed this too. It may even stretch to African Players in general....they usually have it hard. Classic example is the Edman v Atouba comparisons.

More of the same but more of Adel & better video

From 5:00 onwards

He's full of tricks

haha

Crazy game. Like every player was like him. Great technique with no end result.

He needs to never train again, and hang out 100% with Bent.

Then maybe some of the magic can rub off on each.

thanx for the clips guys - yep Adel woul surely be more at home in a game like that than the typical prem game

but he does have potential - who knows like a few others the UEFA/wembley games might give him a chance he grabs
