Ryan Sessegnon has undergone surgery to his left hamstring following an injury sustained in pre-season training.

Having previously suffered with his hamstring it is anticipated that the surgery following this injury will provide a permanent solution to the problem.

He’s had this issue on and off for four years now, surely we should have bitten the bullet and done this surgery years ago?

Feel for the bloke, but we’re gonna be stuck with him again and we really need to move him on

The way they’ve written that makes it sound like they’ve given him a bionic leg!

I know I’m in the minority, but I’ve still got faith in him, there is a top drawer player in there I’m sure of it - really hope this Op is the answer to his injury problems and he can start to kick on with his development when he returns.

How many of our players have been injured and for how long?

I think he's missed the boat, and a lot of that is due to injury and simply not having the time on the field to develop. Shame as I had high hope for the lad. Hopefully he can move on and get some kind of career under his belt before it all just passes him by.

Possibly but Ali gold previously mentioned it was different parts of the hamstring that were being injured so may not be that clear cut

It's a shame and would explain why he's so timid on the pitch. If everytime you have an opportunity to go hell for leather at your opponent and you're worried that you're going to pull an injury then you'll never play at 100% of your ability.

It's for this reason that I don't see a future for him at Spurs

He's always seemed most suited to being an attacking LWB to me (rather than LB where he's not defensively good enough or LW where he's not clinical / potent enough). Our change to a 4-3-3 leaves him without a role at our club imo, even if he finds form and fitness.

Must be gutting working hard all your life to be a footballer and suffering set back after set back. Poor lad, probably not going to make it at spurs but loses the opportunity to have a chance or move on few another few months.

I assume permanent solution means they've just removed the hamstring completely and replaced with a rubber band. Which should prove more durable.

This has always seemed to be a theme with our medical department
TBF before we signed him from Fulham a friend of my brothers a Fulham ST holder said he had fibre glass hamstrings, although he also said they weren't as worried about Sess being bought that season as his brother was actually the better package. I can't speak for the latter but he was spot on about his hamstrings.

So to blame our medical team for it is a bit harsh; I would say they seem to favour surgery as a last resort (which is normally a good thing)

I forget how old he is now.

To be fair, strictly speaking he played LWF at Fulham in a 433 when he had his breakout season in the championship.
He was very good at attacking the back post and getting goals.
