TBF before we signed him from Fulham a friend of my brothers a Fulham ST holder said he had fibre glass hamstrings, although he also said they weren't as worried about Sess being bought that season as his brother was actually the better package. I can't speak for the latter but he was spot on about his hamstrings.

So to blame our medical team for it is a bit harsh; I would say they seem to favour surgery as a last resort (which is normally a good thing)

I forget how old he is now.

He turned 23 in May.

Really hope this helps solve his problems and he can start rebuilding some trust in his own body, kid really needs to catch a break in that department.

To be fair, strictly speaking he played LWF at Fulham in a 433 when he had his breakout season in the championship.
He was very good at attacking the back post and getting goals.
That was in the Championship and he actually played a mixture of LB / LW. Unsurprisingly, most of his goals came from LW.
Then he moved up to the Premier League and again played a mixture of LB / LW, but was found wanting in both positions.

At the top level, I think he has most chance of succeeding as a LWB.

I agree but he needs a lot of improvement for top level

By "top level" I just meant to cut it as a regular starter for a decent PL / CL club, not to be the star player for Real Madrid or to win the Ballon d'Or. But yes...lots of improvement needed.

This has always seemed to be a theme with our medical department

Prof on COYS:

I feel bad for him however ……… he could have had this surgery a significant time ago and would now be ready to impress the new regime. Several times he was advised to have the surgery or he’d keep having hamstring issues and each time he declined. That’s his right, but his choice means he’s less of a victim of circumstance than it may superficially seem.

What do you suggest they should have done?

. Shame as I had high hope for the lad. Hopefully he can move on and get some kind of career under his belt before it all just passes him by.
Agreed it's tough in terms of what he may have expected at some points...

But his career has made him a multimillionaire in his early 20s. His time in football has hardly been a disaster.

No mention in the announcement of how long he's likely to be out for. Perhaps it's extremely invasive surgery that will incur a significant recovery period - which would explain Sessegnon's previous reluctance.

Ryan Sessegnon has undergone surgery to his left hamstring following an injury sustained in pre-season training.

Having previously suffered with his hamstring it is anticipated that the surgery following this injury will provide a permanent solution to the problem.

The poor guy can't catch a break. However, I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's something magic to come to the fore once he gets his injury issues sorted. Just sayin'.
