Everyone is forgetting one thing about Bale’s chance, there’s no way it would have stood anyway, VAR would have been all over it moving forward off Aurier’s arm. We’d have been looking at Lucas v Sheff Utd all over again.

A lot of people criticising Toby on this thread but I'm struggling think of a single positive contribution from Antonio in the entire game. I think Toby dealt with him quite well.

Such a shame that we managed to throw that away.

Too many players not quite there when it comes to mentality. Mistakes can happen but the same players make the same ones over and over.

If Jose can identify a defensive system with the least mistakes in it than that we still have a chance of challenging as the league is all over the place this year.

That result reminded me of Klopp's early Liverpool. Can steamroll teams but know how to shoot themselves in the foot. I think if we'd had a defender who likes to attack aerially we'd have seen that out easily.

I thought the Balbuena goal was a very soft one to concede as the ball was up in the air for a little longer than those typical ones, that's when defenders who love to head away come in handy as they live on that. It's likely that the second goal and the eventual fightback wouldn't have happened.

I do think we have a lot of elements of title winners in there but the big one we seem to miss is not throwing away great opportunities.

We should have an extra 4 points and be really looking at taking top spot but because we are unable to see out wins in these games of opportunities it is going to be much tougher to get closer.

I said before that I believe we are title winners once we are able to grab an opportunity to go top, as I think that would be a huge moment and sign that this club/team has got over a hurdle that has held us back for so long. On today's evidence it's not there yet.

Jose needs to now find a way to get more out of these defenders and hopefully get Skriniar in January, unless of course Rodon can be that player.

Put it into context they scored from a set-piece, an own goal and one of those "have a go moments!" and stole 1 point.

What is good progress is to see we are now a team and play like one. These problems were there before but we couldn't score. A lot of the problems have slowly been fixed and if the last part is just the mentality then it will come.

Kane hits the post and if that went in then it is game over. It's fine margins and in this instance, our problem was we scored 3 goals so early and we took out foot off the peddle as the game was won. We needed the 4th 15 mins into the second half.

It's about where we are going and not where we have been.

Roll on Thursday!

Whoever scouted Sanchez, Moura and Bergwijn needs their P45. Sanchez is nowhere near good enough and both Moura and Bergwijn only turn up once in every 10 games. Dunno how Harry Winks is still getting game time either.
Really? Sanchez is good enough, same for Winks. I don't think Moura is good enough for us to be more than backup but he was still good buy. Bergwijn has a massive potential and will be very good, even already is(he turn up once in every 10 games? i would say once in every 10 games he had a poor game).

That wasn't great result but people here today wants to sell every player bar Kane, Son, Bale and Ndombele

I do also think Bale's entrance may have hindered us. I think some of our players subconsciously took the foot off the gas feeling that Bale would give the team a goal or take the game himself. Some players dropped in energy levels and that happened when Bale entered the fray.

Can't remember when Aurier touched it, but I think the rule has changed a bit. For example Chelsea's equaliser against Brom hit Havertz's arm in the buildup and still stood.

I don’t understand why , when winks came on the system changed snd PEH went into headless chicken mode. He was decent as the holding midfielder. If Tanguy was beat winks should have been a like for line replacement. Ie further up the pitch

Honestly, I’d rather have lost the game 3-0 than ‘claim’ that point. Feels worse than a defeat to have surrendered such a position. Still, it won’t be the last time. Rodon a start to improve our centre backs, but I’d happy shift our current 3 of Sánchez, Dier and Toby. All either had their day or will never have another day.

Tottenham did the last two times we were title challengers!
To be fair that kinda proves the point. Winks was not a regular performer, in fact he hardly featured the first year, but if we'd had have had better than him we'd maybe have done more. However that's a little harsh as he was young then.

Sanchez and Winks are nowhere near good enough if we have top 4 / title aspirations.

Sanchez is dogshit. He is our worst centre back. He is not good enough. He wouldn't get into any of the other top 6 defences and some of them are as bad as ours right now.

If you think Winks is good enough I give up.

My Dad was 18 when we last won the league. He's now 78. I said " I don't think you're going to see us win another title in your lifetime", He replied "At least I saw them win 2, I don't think you'll ever see Spurs win one" (I'm 54). Then my boy said " I don't think I will either". He's 14 :ROFLMAO:
[/QUO
My dad used to talk about the two title wins as he saw both, I on the other hand have given up on seeing a title win this club just doesn't have it in them.

Because I don't think Winks is good positionally or pressing, the player beside him then has to do even more. It was the same vs Everton.

It's just not a good pairing at all.

Such a shame all the feel good feeling and momentum we gathered on and off the pitch is gone in just 10mins..

I really can’t understand the stick the CBs are getting this game. All our problems came from the team switching off 2nd half, not tactically dealing with WH overloading us in wide areas, and individual mistakes from Sissoko and Winks. Sanchez’s OG was unlucky, although maybe he could have done better.
