Could be a game where Son on the left, Richy in the middle is a more dangerous attacking option. Son’s ability to go both ways and shoot from distance is tailor made for Johnson’s role tonight. Richy would at least give us someone to aim for with any crosses.

Maddison has a goal or assist in this kind of game, his guile and shooting ability makes a huge difference.
Shame he's missing

Misses like that means extra man covering Son and not worrying about others.
Yeah.

Johnson is weak on his left so isn't going to take a chance. Happy to let him go outside.

It's why I,d put Son in the left. Take them by surpise a bit.

We have had a few cutbacks fall to that side and also some space inside to work a shot but none of our players are confident hitting it there.

The other issue is Deki is being doubled up on. Maybe move him inside.

West Ham are in this only by virtue of the fact that it's only 1-0. they've created next to nothing. Id be stunned if we didn't win this game.

Really though? This is that sort of game that if we haven't scored a second by 70/75 mins, the crowd will get anxious and West Ham will know they can get a result.

Need to make that breakthrough early in the second half or this will get edgy. Seen it too many times.

another good half of football but there are still some rough edges execution wise. the obvious one is the lack of incisiveness in the positional final third play. but what I really didn't like was that the team couldn't properly switch up the chip in transition defense a couple of times. we're dominating play yet West Ham has still looked threatening the few opportunities they got to possess the ball. problems like midfield not joining in on the press, players allowing runs into dangerous areas, full backs sitting too narrow when paired with the center backs allowing easy side to side balls leading to crossing opportunities being some of the most prominent.

as dominant as the team was, it doesn't feel like it is a controlled advantage. that's to be expected with a single goal cushion but you get the gist.

I'm gonna cut Johnson some slack as he's basically playing in a new position, but in the positions he's been in he has to do much more.

And his tracking back is well short of what's required.

Really need to make this dominance count. We've cut through them up until we get to the final third and then we've come up with very little. Ideally we need to get a second before the 60th minute, because I expect our lads to start to tire around about then.

Very good display by the team against anti football and yet another ref who blows up at the slightest opportunity for the opposition but let's similar go against us.

We desperately need to find a way to score from all these attacks.
Yeah you will never score from all attacks

All Spurs but not tested Fabianski enough for my liking. Some tame shots and half hearted efforts. Need a few quick crosses in to catch them off guard a bit, we get into good positions and start again.

I worry about the sucker punch, West ham are more than capable of doing that

Great first half but we need to take more chances around the edge of the box. I think that's where we miss Maddison, can't wait to see him and Gio in the same team.
Not sure we see that combo very often - not enough of a defensive presence when they are both playing.

Plenty of attacking intent though.

Johnson has made some poor decisions, but Son’s movement hasn’t been great too. Seems to just not quite be clicking for this front 3 fully yet, going to be terrifying for the league when it does though!

Im sure we will get that 2nd goal. We are all over them and if it continues 2nd half I can't see anything but us scoring next.
