Agree with everyone else regarding the support. Embarrassed with the boos at HT and the constant moaning whenever a pass doesn't come off.

When did we become such an entitled bunch?
I don’t disagree but…………and i'm being a bit of a devil's advocate type thing here, if someone moans too much in this thread, it’s written off on SC as ‘passion’. So my question is, if making a vitriolic post or a stupid kneejerky moan post is passion on here, why isn’t it seen as passion at the actual game where it's actually a little bit more understandable. And also, on here, have a great big fuckoff rant or moan like mad and you're "entitled to your opinion" and we're again told it's "passion" so the same must be asked, why not at the game?

The third thing is 'venting'. Apply the same.

At times, they can all be as frustrating or annoying as fuck though :D

Just when I thought the team were in a good position with two home games in a row our beloved spurs turn up.

Been holding back my thoughts, but we need to start with bentacour and skipp for remainder of the season when both fit. Dier was a big miss as he’s a commander. Without him they look like headless chickens, and extremely poor from Royal to lose his man, not once but twice. My only big concern is our RB could cost us the CL spot as he doesn’t look reliable or good enough. Maybe start with docherty instead?

Anyone have an extended clip of there last 2 goals? Want to look at positioning from before the highlights

Just watch the 2 mins highlight from the official channel. But I notice that both Ward-Prowse's crosses were early crosses (hence our players failed to press him) and from an extraordinary distance/angle. I think that's the reason why our defenders lost their concentration when Ward-Prowse put in their crosses - they didn't really expect that he would put in such an excellent cross from that distance/early crosses. But this is not an excuse for them, after all.

Crazy game. We scored two. Kane and Reggy should both have scored as well. Two disallowed for marginally offside and we still deserved to lose at home.
Contes system needs good attacking wingbacks that score and assist. We don’t have that or anyone in midfield who can control the game (Bentacour looks promising)

Important game now at home before all the away games this team doesn’t do well under pressure

I honestly think it's obvious that our midfield is better with Skipp in it. I'm not a stat person but would be intrigued to see how many of our losses have come without him playing.

The only problem with stating this opinion, is people instantly see it as a knock on Hojbjerg, which it really isn't.

I was very impressed with Bentancur. He looked so much more creative than what some were saying before we got him (I'd not seen him).

So why couldn't Skipp & Hojbjerg play in the same midfield as him, providing a solid base to allow him to drive us forward life he did after he came on last night?

Ps, I've not read the thread. But that miss from Reguilon was downright criminal.

I can see things like that very much disappointing Conte when he is expecting our WBs to chip in with goals.

Have you actually watched the match?
I'm at the game and boo

I was at the game and I like to think I'm a pretty positive person but boy that first half was a hard watch and no mistake. Individual errors, failure to press either individually or as a team, a distinct lack of passion or ability to actually find a team mate with a pass, I could go on.
It's easy for those watching on TV to say its embarrassing to hear boos and say its an entitled approach but as we all know it is TOTALLY different watching a game live, be it with a couple of hundred or tens of thousands around you. You get caught up in the emotion and it brings out the best and worst in people.
Quite honestly one of the worst 45 minutes I have witnessed live for many years, certainly the worst in the new ground and I've been to most.

Royals positioning all night was appealing, he would have been more cover sitting on the bench... He had an absolute howler, one of the worst individual performances I have seen unfortunately

I'm going to be a bit controversial here, I would like to play like Southampton, I don't want to be Southampton and I don't want to have Southampton's aspirations, I want better than that but I watched them yesterday and thought I can't remember the last time I saw us play like that
They passed the ball on the deck moved to receive the ball supported the man on the ball giving him options, a bit like what we used to call the Spurs way.
They beat us last night not because they worked harder than us but because they passed us off the park, I don't know the possession stats but it seemed to me they had the ball most of the time and, let's be honest, they ain't that good.
They are a bunch of good average premier League players but as a team they made us look well second best.
Conte is a top coach and we're a long way from where we'll get to with him, it's very early days but I'd hope to see a bit more like that.
That's me done, come at me.

Bang on mate. I’ve been going 25 years and never known it like this and to think we have one of if not on paper the best manager ever ever had as well as a shiny new stadium and a half decent and improving squad, the way some of our fans bitch and moan and boo the whole game you’d think we were in Everton or Burnley’s predicament or something.

I get that under Jose and Nuno it was difficult and I get that we’ve made mistakes with transfers since Poch but my goodness some of our ‘supporters’ need to take a good look at themselves, sorry but it’s embarrassing, OTT and if they hate the team and club and players so much then don’t bother turning up to ‘support’ them.

COYS
I've been going for 45+ years and there's always been moaners in our support - I remember having a 'discussion' with someone calling out Hoddle for the lack of bite in the tackle. And the grief someone like John Pratt got every game!

This. This. this. I realised it as well, when Skipp didn't start, we lose. He may still be raw, but his energy and tenacity rubs off others in the best way possible. We so lacked that in losses against chelscum and Soton last night.

Not sure why anyone would disagree with much of that. We're nowhere near where we want to be, I think we all know that, loads of people temper expectations when we have a positive result/performance saying we should expect games like last night. We know it's going to happen, we're almost ready for it to happen but when it does some people still lose their shit. It's an emotional rollercoaster!

Most of the booing was for the referee because of the decisions given against Romero late - particularly the phantom corner.

Spurs fans are still massive moaners though…

Exactly. I actually posted exactly this point, from the game, but you know, for some of our fans...never let facts get in the way of a false narrative. The booing was largely for the ridiculous corner that was given, when 10 secs later everyone could see on their phones that it wasn't a corner.

I find it baffling that after such an abject display, some of our fans choose to criticise other fans for how they support the team, rather than focus on the ineptitude of the players. Each to his/her own I guess

2-1 with 10+mins to go and lacking the desire to see it out is really shocking. But when you see the players on the bench to shut it up you can see the lacking in depth. When you see Walker-Peters and Emerson you beggar to understand why we let him go and what we seen in Emerson. Emerson isnt equipped to handle the English game.
See what Southampton done to us last night, you could see other do the same if Emerson is exposed.
This wont be the last time this season we see this lacklustre performance.

So that's the possession stats. Looks can be deceptive as it felt Southampton had way more possession than that.

I still think our team is better than Southampton's.

Yes we need improvement but that was a poor team performance last night and we just struggled with their pressing.

It's not just adjusting personnel it's also still a mentality problem Conte has to address.

Was in the East Upper last night and there was a lad there loudly giving his opinion on every passage of play. He hadn't a breeze what he was talking about for the most part. He was asking players to "switch the play" when they were facing the other way under pressure. Not sure he understood that the players don't have his view of the play. An insufferable arsehole.

At 1-1 v Southampton, as bad as we were, I'm not sure what booing accomplishes. I cringed a bit when it happened to be honest. If the players were bad, a lot of the supporters were worse.
