Can't believe I feel nervous for a game like this.

How can we possibly think of winning trophies when the general consensus is that Newcastle have a massive chance here, at our place!

Not as confident as I should be and I am starting to slowly get Mourinho vibes. I honestly don't know what the answer is... If Conte can't do it, then fuck knows who will.
Think it's just you nervous tbh. It's our best ever premier league start to a season.

But having beaten teams from the bottom half and getting shown up by teams who we believe are at our level, whilst playing rather poor football. Conte as a player never gave up as his team did on Wednesday.

Can't see that Doherty has done anything much to justify his place
other than not being Emerson.
Criticism of whom is wildly overdone.
Skipp is chasing about like a headless chicken
engaging with neither Opposition nor team-mates.
Betancur currently our best player should start
and Lenglet is, or should be our preferred left back.

Kane and Son play by default.
343/ 352/ Makes no difference if nobody can be arsed.

You don’t get a functioning 3:5:2 just by dropping a forward from a 4:3:4 and adding a midfielder. You have to train for it, know how to use that extra CM, understand the tactical opportunities it offers. In short, you need a good coach to make the best of that transition.

Don't think we'll lose tbh. Newcastle without Isak, Joelinton, ASM are a noticeably worse side. Win would put us in a really good spot for top 4 considering the points dropped by Liverpool and 1/2 of Chelsea and United.

ASM has been out for weeks as has Isak. Only Joelinton has been a regular. They are well capable of causing us problems . Without Joelinton their midfield 3 will probably be Guimares with Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff either side of him. With Jacob Murphy up front and Almiron running about like a madman, on paper they don’t look a top 6 side, but they play well as a team, very good defence and Callum Wilson up front. We will need to play well to get the win.
About time we DID play wel for more than 20 minutes.

A good coach only has 10 outfield players. What could Conte do with an extra player, probably play 11 at the back.

Oh yeah, probably meant 3:4:3, but there's no way anyone could have figured that out from the context. But you're right, any extra manpower is going into defence under Conte.

I think Conte should revert to his 343. But put Perisic in the front 3. Lenglet in for Davies. Emerson for Doc. And consider giving Skippy a start over PEH. I’d love to see him give Spence some time. But he seems adamant about only playing with a squad of 16.

For me, the UTD game, we came up against a side far more technical and skillful than most of our team. And to top it off, four or five of our boys were super leggy. And yes, Conte style of playing can be hard on the eyes when it isn’t working. As it relies so much on physicality, intelligence, and playing mistake free.

I think bringing Perisic in closer to Kane and Sonny would help make up for what we miss when Deki is out.

We did hammer them last season despite them having excellent form during that period. Although Kulusevski being out is a big problem.

Regardless, a win tomorrow, by any means, puts us in a great position.

Follow it up with a win against Sporting and we are still fighting comfortably on all fronts. Which should stand us in good stead for post WC.

Remarkable, how after a defeat people suggest dropping Davies; happens time and time again. He was the best of the CB's against United. Romero was poor, commits stupid fouls. goes to ground around our box, often without winning the ball. And to top it off he is average in the air. He is either good or poor, not much in between.

Son needs to get his act together. Just prior to their first goal we were gifted the ball in their half, all Son had to do was play the way he was facing, spread it wide and get forward, instead he messed around, lost the ball and away they went. The guy is currently exhibiting awful ball control, he is playing with his head down, simply trying to do too much, to the point where we are almost playing with 10 men.

He has to start playing for the team again, currently has golden boot-itis .
