The mood is low and rightly so after that disappointing Man Utd performance and, if I am honest, a lot of our performances this season especially when compared to how we finished last season and the strengening in the summer window.

I'm not sure where the problem lies to be honest (results wise we are still doing well), but this time last year we were in free fall before Conte came in. Personally, I have absolute faith in Conte to get it right and believe he will be backed to make the upgrades he desires.

I do wonder if some players are trying to protect themselves for the world cup, you look at a lot of the bigger teams, performances just don't appear to be at the level we expect in the premier league. The high intensity doesn't seem to be there, City vs Liverpool only seemed to pick up late on in the game.

Either way, if we can make it to the world cup break in the top 3 still, I think that will be a huge lift for when we come back. Hopefully our fitness will be better than the teams around us and we can kick on. We still need 1 or 2 signings in January though.

Kulu likely to miss the game is a huge blow, we really need him back.

Likely won't see him until January. On an unrelated note I've got some banging cyanide tablets.

Looked at Newcastle record this season and they only lost 1 match and that was way back in August against Liverpool. Granted they have drawn more than they have won but does look to be a really tough match.

It'll be down to whether Newcastle are able to take advantage of the control we'll likely give him.

Given some key players of theirs are out, I'd say we can squeak by with a narrow win.

I would love to see us a bit more front foot, in their faces, and creating chances early on.

Amen to that idea mate!!! (just exchange the word 'bit' for 'lot and we're on the same page!! ?‍♂️

For me, the nervousness is around how much of an effect Wednesday night will have. Are we going to recover or is this the start of a downward spiral.

We need to see a reaction in order to continue the good start (results-wise) to the season.

Absolutely spot on. Wednesday nights horror show should remind all the players we need so much more from them.

We desperately need some fresh legs in this one, and not just the fullbacks. I’d start Skippy and give Gil or Moura a chance.

Yep. After Wednesday when the lineup looked pretty promising but still served up what we saw, I care less about the line up than I maybe normally would have. I think I want to see fresh legs more than anything as some of those players will be getting knackered. Maybe in the form of Lenglet, Emerson, Bissouma (started on Wednesday but generally hasn't played much), Sessegnon and Lucas.

This game feels absolutely massive.

A win and good performance and fans will be back on the Conte train, understand it’s a process and accept that Wednesday was just one of those days we may have to endure from time to time as we build a competitive side over the next couple of years.

A poor performance and the pitch forks will really sharpen on Conte and his tactics, despite our impressive points haul.

Not just the players. Conte did nothing to try to change the course of the United game. Just meekly accepted defeat. In all honesty if he has no intention of ever using Bryan why has he got him on the bench? He complains about not having a large enough squad but actually uses only a small group of them in anger. I do not count mass substitutions with virtually no time left as using your squad. I don’t know of any other Premier League manager who acts in this way. It is almost like he is making some pathetic protest at Levy.

I feel the commentators constant referral on Wednesday night to our wins coming against bottom half teams has definitely had an effect on our fan base. Before Wednesday I hadn’t heard that stat and hadn’t really thought about it but Tyldsleys constant banging on about it has certainly made me see a lot of posts and conversations about who we’ve played and who we’ve beaten so far this season.

Yes but he clearly doesn’t trust Gil or other players so why would he use them? Do you really think Gil would have done anything to change that game? He simply would have got bullied.
It’s not a pathetic protest it’s simply that he doesn’t rate his squad and doesn’t trust players that aren’t fit yet.

I have to say I often find his substitutions and the timing of them to be completely baffling. Chucking 3 or 4 players on together with ten minutes to go (for example), sometimes even less, is only going to produce chaos on the pitch, as we've all seen.

I asked a genuine question a few days ago about Conte but I didn't get an answer. I've never really taken much notice of Conte or what kind of football his teams have played, although he's obviously been highly successful, winning titles and trophies, so I wondered if anyone was paying more attention and can help me out. What sort of football have his teams played in the past? ?‍♂️

Too add to this, we’ve been incredibly unlucky to have 3 forwards out injured at one time, one who hadn’t kicked a ball all season who is waiting to come back to fitness,
If we have a fully fit forward line it would be a different story.
look at arsenal, they have had their key attackers fit all season. If they had Saka, nketia veira injured at the same time I’m sure it would affect their attack. They’d have to play ode, martinelli and Jesus constantly, even in Europe.
I thought the performance was abysmal, but we need to have patience we need to judge conte when everyone is fit and integrated, when we’ve had two more windows with buying the players conte wants to suit the system.
we have too many players in the squad either not fit or not good enough or not right for the system.
United had a lot of very expensive, big name signings already in their squad and added 200m of quality additions across 3 positions, plus a couple more exciting additions.
They bought a 5 times champions league winning Casemiro who was part of one of the best midfields ever, who is only 30 for massive wages and massive money.
We have arguably 7 players who need to go in, Sanchez, Gil, Moura, tanganga, perisic, Emerson, Doherty. They all need upgrading to top 6 quality,
We have countless players out on loan we couldn’t sell in Rodon, ndombele, lo celso and winks. That’s 11 players, half a squad that we need to move on or sell.
We have Udogie coming in who is a massive step in the right direction, we have skipp, bissouma, spence who are all getting back to fitness or getting used to our tactical way of playing.
So that’s 14 players, then add in an injured Kulu and richarlison that’s 16 players we own who aren’t ready or not right or injured.
Imo playing the way we want to play davies and dier will never be good enough either. But that’s just my opinion.
I am as guilty as anyone of knee jerk reactions and letting my passion get the better of me but until next season I really don’t think we can judge us.
Everyone talks about we aren’t moving forward but I think we are, but you have to remember that every other big side is also moving forward. Arsenal spent a lot of money and have a very settled and ready first 11, city added in the best young striker in the world and 3 other very good quality squad players, Liverpool lost mane but spent 85m on a massive young striker talent and added couple of very high ceiling young players, chelsea added 4/5 very expensive big name players/prem proven players and will continue to spend massive money.
its so so hard to compete in the prem so we need to take stock and give out manager time to get the squad he wants.

Really need to bounce back after such a disappointment Wednesday. United simply wanted it more and our lethargic approach gave them all the incentive they needed to get after us. We need quicker, more accurate passing and a load more passion. I want Lenglet to start since his passing could get us going from the back. Swap roles for Bentancur and Bissouma so that Bissouma can drive us forward and Bentancur can distribute from deep.

We stunk out Old Trafford on Wednesday, partly down to negative tactics and partly down to fatigue, there are six or seven players in the team who start every single game and we have already played six matches this month alone with first team players and no capacity to completely rest players like Man Utd have been able to do in the Europa League and it really showed. Now we play another very fresh and very vibrant team in Newcastle and we have to dig deep once again. We have been beasts at home and won every match since losing to Brighton in April- this one will be a tall order but we can do it if Conte uses his resources properly. I think our wonderful fans will push us over the line on Sunday. Tottenham Hotspur 2 Newcastle United 1. COYS!

I heard Newcash are going to be missing a few of their best regulars (St. Maximin and Joelinton) which will diminish their effectiveness somewhat, but the most important thing is for us to shake off the nightmarish 'performances' of Old Trafford and inject some real passion into our game, by getting the ball FORWARD with greater intensity and pace, and by showing some real intent to do damage. The players owe themselves (and all of us) a real reaction to the shambles of Old Trafford.
