I hope Ndombele has been working overtime on his fitness, he’s had 3 months so the only excuse he should have is lack of competitive football. If he’s improved in his fitness he could be a game changer. With everyone else back who was injured I’m not so pessimistic as I would’ve been before.

This is like a cup final for Mourinho. It definitely won’t be pretty but with a fully fit squad and mini-preseason to drill the team, I would bank on Mourinho’s experience to nick the result in this one. Matches like this is what he built his reputation on.

I hope you're right. Annoyingly , that's what I thought going into the Chelsea games / United away this season. We're definitely yet to see Mourinhos impact in big games. The city game was a bit of a one off.

And we were totally outplayed

As were Porto when the famously knocked Man U out of the CL. As were Inter Milan when they famously knocked Barcelona out fo the CL. Mourinho teams do not dominate in big games, they aim not lose and nick wins when the other team cannot score. It is his philosophy.

You may have noticed, but we've not exactly been spectacular at that bit...

Have we ever really played like this under him though? I seem to have blanked out all our pre covid performances with more recent stuff. All I is remember us being crap all round.

I think we tried to against Chelsea and Man U away, and Liverpool and Man C at home. The biggest surprise was, Liverpool aside, just how badly we defended despite a low block. Even in the 2-0 win against Man C they really should have had 4 or 5 goals as they had 7 or 8 very good chances, inc. a penalty.

Thing is, back then we didn't have a fully fit squad and Mourinho hadn't had time drill the team how he wanted to. It's different now.

Being furious with the medical department is very believable. We always have had an abnormal amout of injuries and the time frames are always longer than you’d think.

I guess it won't happen now because of tightening the belt, but one thing I hoped Mourinho could do was a total revamp of the medical department.

FYI

It is the “million-dollar question”, as one individual close to Manchester United puts it. Can Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba play in the same team to full effect?
Indications are that the answer will not be found at Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, at least. Pogba last played on Boxing Day and though he has trained well since lockdown eased, United are understood to be working on a starting XI without the Frenchman.
Jose Mourinho is the first manager preparing for United after the restart and the match in north London presents a huge occasion on the Premier League’s return. Pogba has not faced Mourinho since their combustible relationship came to an end at United but plans, at this stage, are for other midfielders to start the encounter.
Some sources close to United say Pogba needs to earn his way back into a team that went 11 matches unbeaten prior to the coronavirus outbreak, while there are obvious fitness considerations given will have not played competitively in 176 days at time of kick-off. Others point to the fact United may need insurance in midfield against quick Tottenham counter-attacks.
Seems simple no? McTominay Fernandes Pogba sounds like a perfect midfield three to me. Solskjaer is a clown if he doesn't start them together.

I think Levy would back him in that regard. Anything to avoid added fan pressure for transfers.
