I felt the commentary was making slight, negative comments towards us all night. Bringing up Evertons beating us to help Leicester win the league, etc, etc. Barely had a good word to say and when they do it feels begrudgingly.
The media hate Spurs. Its why Kane gets mentioned about a move more than any other player at any other club has ever. They fkin hate that he's at Spurs.
Fuck 'em.
Totally agree! Then afterwards all they do it talk about Everton’s two missed chances for minutes on end. It was really odd. Spurs had won the game with two scares, that’s it out of 90mins, we controlled the ball and the tempo for much of it and all they could talk about was them! Odd.

Agreed. I know some will say it's not odd, there's no conspiracy....well of course there's no conspiracy, that's a tad dramatic.

But what there is a lot of is bias.

I'd say three quarters of post analysis was to do with Everton and what could of happened had they taken one of those chances.

And on top of that, they're just lazingly assuming that Everton would most likely of gone on to win the game lol.

This wasn't the last twenty minutes, it' was mid way through the first half.

Like we wouldn't of responded and lifted our tempo....how many times have we seen our tempo go up considerably after going a goal down...

They had two chances on the break the whole game...yet you'd think they were unlucky to get beat....

Was literally listening in disbelief....and then Andros Townsend claims they should of won....Jesus fucking wept ?

Slight irritation for me on the subject of goalie feet placing for penalties. I haven't seen a pen retake for this offence for decades....til we got one recently which was an unpleasant surprise in a big match.

Most keepers move before the pen kick is actually taken and yesterday was another example as Pickford was off his line.

that only becomes an issue if the keeper saves or the kicker misses. They don’t make you retake if it’s a goal for the goalie being off his line.

Playing 3 in central midfield unleashes the full backs and gives us a much better shape and balance.

His foot was on the line until after the ball was struck...

To be completely honest I found the first half a frustrating watch and we probably should have been going into the break a goal down. I may find a reason or excuse to think otherwise but I know for a fact if it was Spurs who played like Everton and missed those two break away chances I would 100% think we should have been winning the match at that HT stage.

So much better in the 2nd half though and especially after Bissouma came on, was enjoyable to watch. It's crazy to see us have the level of control that we do in certain matches now. The extent to which we have improved defensively is massive.

Would have been retaken if Pickford had saved it or Kane had missed.

He literally buried his head knowing that's a stonewall pen.
Harry was going nowhere and he couldn’t believe his luck, of course he went down, but it was an absolute stonewall penalty. Pickford made a rash decision and gifted us a goal. Thanks Jordan.

I found it a bit weird that they didn't say a single solitary word about Everton in the analysis on Match of the Day. They always say at least a sentence about both teams, don't they?

Not much too say really. A team of plodders with no real talent upfront.

I actually really enjoyed that win. Beating a team playing 5 at the back with 3 generally unadventurous midfielders is very pleasing.
Overall we totally controlled the game. Their first chance came from a ball over the top which we didn’t deal with. Their second was purely down to Hojbjerg & Romero leaving it to each other.

It was crying out for higher wing backs & midfielders and Bissouma coming on allowed this to happen. Just shows how a midfielder for a forward can actually make us look more dangerous.

Some fine individual performances; Doherty did well, both midfielders were excellent again (saying that every match) and Kane looked back to his old self. Huge credit to Bissouma who bossed it; winning tackles, moving the ball quickly and incisively.

Only downside was Richarlison’s injury. I’ve had plenty of calf injuries and I’d be amazed if he’s anywhere near the World Cup. He could barely walk after the game and that must mean a really bad one. Hopefully Kulusevski is fit for Wednesday otherwise we’re looking a bit thin on the bench.

A good result where we once again limited the opposition to very few decent chances.

We are however still very dull to watch, but some of this may be because I don't fear a calamity every time the opposition attack.

I'm still not sure why everyone seemed convinced that Bissouma would elevate us and that he's a super special player, but he did well yesterday. Covered a lot of ground, made some good tackles and got the ball forward.

Yeah, sadly it seems very forced to play with 3 forwards. Richy has to be the furthest one IMO, playing him on either side is so limiting on him.
Didnt Conti play with 3 MF with Chelsea.
For me we will miss Richys power up front but need the extra player in MF.

Definitely. I find it interesting that the reaction among other fans was “Spurs taking off a forward for yet another defensive player - how boring can they be?” It actually makes us more attacking, in my opinion. Especially if you have 2 full backs who can properly attack. With Hojbjerg and Bentancur both showing they are capable at being creative, it’s something that can really work well for us.

It's really a very weird rule IMO. It's a dead ball situation. Why is there even a need to dictate the position of keepers like an offside rule which is during when the ball is in play.
