Great game. Thought our attacking patterns looked good once we switched to 3-5-2. Bissouma won a few nice challenges in there and I liked Hojbjerg and Bentancur drifting further wide. Hojbjerg my MOM again, as he has been many times this season.

Conte has a game plan and it’s working and the players are obviously playing for him.
So don’t take this as an entitled fans criticism of our current success.

Im just really not enjoying the football - despite it being mostly effective - and it’s caused a huge disconnect with the team just purely because I’m not enjoying watching us most of the time (could only see about 50 mins today tbf)
I reckon fans in general, but especially Spurs fans, need to learn to enjoy the arts of good defending as a team. We act as if the only good football is devil-may-care swashbuckling attacking.

People seem to stop watching, except when they are hunting for individual Spurs errors, the moment the opposition attacks.

Today Everton just bounced off when they attacked. That wasn’t because of their inadequacy, it was because of our excellence.

And we caused them loads of problems? We made the game interesting? Great we contained a really poor side for 90 mins. The game was very dull again and we got a penalty to put us in front. The second goal was a lucky deflection.

I played for 18 years as a centre back (occasionally a defensive midfielder or right back) - I appreciate good defending and see the best of it as an art - it doesn’t mean I find it the most enjoyable football to always watch

Our second half possession was perhaps the best forty five minutes of the season. Totally dictated the pace, and controlled the game at our pace.

Terrific forty five minutes.

I felt the commentary was making slight, negative comments towards us all night. Bringing up Evertons beating us to help Leicester win the league, etc, etc. Barely had a good word to say and when they do it feels begrudgingly.
The media hate Spurs. Its why Kane gets mentioned about a move more than any other player at any other club has ever. They fkin hate that he's at Spurs.
Fuck 'em.

When Rondon came on the narrative was him having playing for West Brom which was 1-1 and effectively handed Leicester their title (not a direct quote but in similar words)

I wasn't sure myself, but just caught a replay – it's a stonewall penalty; even Pickford knew the moment it happened. Any other player does that, there's no debate... but we're supposed to believe he gets special treatment?
He literally buried his head knowing that's a stonewall pen.

Fascinating game to watch. Never felt Everton were going to score and only remember one real save from Hugo.

Have to say really like how Lampard comes across. As an ex Chelsea legend it’s weird I’ve never really minded him at all, just seems like a decent guy and hope he does well for Everton.
Have to agree. He was unbearable coaching at chelscum. So much better after that stint. Somehow coaching at chelscum really made people detestable.

PEH is probably having the best season of his career on current form and trajectory. Long may that continue. We seem to have a solid midfield in tact again, with options to play different players and numbers in there. Probably the best since Poch's heyday. It really is the basis for success, and PEH's contributions in attack are making a key difference.
We may never have that silkiness of Dembele back for awhile, but somehow if Hojbjerg and Bentancur can chip in with goals consistently which Dembele and Wanyama really couldn't, I would say our current duo will be an even better pair.

Oh he was detestable long before that.
Yes. Anything chelscum is detestable. But at least Fat Frank seems to have matured and carry himself better now, lesser of a prick, at least against us. Wouldn't mind him back to his prick self against the other top teams.

We have the capacity to be better. Yesterday should how organised we can be. I do feel we are a working progress and with Rich going off may have introducec an 11 which may have not been explored fully. Even Conti smiled when it was put to him. I love Rich but its still trying to happen for him along side Kane and Son, who both opened their wings once he went off.

Bissouma may be the one, to comoare to Dembele ( have to say Dem was a one off). Although Bissouma doesn't glide pass players (yet) - this will come with playing time. What an impact he had yesterday allowing Hoj/Bent to push forward. He complimented thier game,

Yeah, sadly it seems very forced to play with 3 forwards. Richy has to be the furthest one IMO, playing him on either side is so limiting on him.

I am afraid Richy is a waste of money. We don't even need him at all in the first place. That money could have been better invested into a CM and a RWB. We play better when he's not in the team.

Maybe he's being used on the right as cover for Kulusevski's absence through injury.

He might well do better when Kulu returns and afforded game time in what appears more preferable positions. Namely from the left or centrally.

Far too early to judge for me.
