The football in the first half was utterly dreadful but we did manage to carve out two excellent chances and probably should have scored. Had it not been for Gazzaniga’s brainfart we’d have been well in the match at half time. Jose identified the problem and tried to fix it, but then Son’s total idiocy buried us.

Jose does deserve blame for picking Dier and Sissoko but ultimately it was the moments of stupidity from individuals that really cost us. There’s no legislating for Aurier switching off on a short corner that he never should have conceded to begin with, Gazza judo-chopping down a runner who had no hope of getting to the ball, or Son lashing out petulantly.

The fact that he made the halftime sub tells me he understood that Dier and Sissoko cannot play together, so as far as the things the manager can actually control are concerned, hopefully that will go down as a lesson learned.

Some are but I still maintain that without a top mentality you will win nothing. Look at the average players Leicester won the League with.

To some extent although the whole league that year was average, as bad as I have seen and Leicester had a set of players who just happened to perfectly fit the sit and counter strategy, it was a lucky combo.

Brexit Britain strikes again, isn't it. It's horrible to see how people who harbour racist thoughts have been emboldened by the rhetoric of the referendum, this happened so rarely pre-2016 and so frequently the last two years it cannot be a coincidence. The country is more divided than ever before and the political class of the country is to blame for letting it get this way.
You’re right, brexit is the cause of racism in a stadium full of 90% labour and remain voters

We were terrible from the start and the bizarre individual decisions we've been making over the last year or so helped to hand the game to Chelsea.

I still don't think Son even deserved a booking but not sure it would have changed much anyway.

Fuck racism.

I expect neg ratings and maybe this is emotion talking but...

Anyone else feeling like they have been conned by Jose's PR charm offensive?

Laid bare, we seemingly benefited from the classic new manager bounce but reality is we haven't played well in any game aside from Burnley.

I felt like Jose was brought in for the big occasions yet against both United and Chelsea we looked arguably worse than ever.

I get possession isn't always effective and under Poch it at times felt pointless but it feels like we have gone to the other extreme.

I genuinely can't remember one period of sustained pressure in any match under Jose.

I'm hoping it will come good but can't say I'm filled with much confidence, he is seemingly not learning from his mistakes which was the downfall of Poch.
This. Exactly this.

And may i add, not just MU and Chelsea, but Wolves match as well which we won but played as atrociously as today.

The very small minority of racist c**** today do not represent Tottenham Hotspur in any way shape or form.

The players are talented. Amongst the most talented in the league. However, their mentality is pure crap and amongst the worst in the league.

Jose needs to get in their heads and bring the top mentality to the surface. If not then we are destined to repeat this shit again and again.

We are the football equivalent of Phil Connors.

When will people get it Pochettino had been crying for changes for the last two years -for us to send players out and refresh the squad he’d got 5 plus years out of many and it was time for Levy to back him especially when they down tooled.

Levy bottled it and went for the cheap option thinking a desperate Mourinho could work miracles.

Why are the games against Chelsea always such a clusterf**k. We were out thought and out fought but ironically both goals were gifts because from individual clusterf**ks. The first is because Aurier is not good enough. Despite plenty of time and no pressure he completely misjudges the flight of the ball and gives away an unnecessary corner. Then he falls asleep at a short corner and doesn’t get out quick enough to close down William( Sissoko should have got out too) allowing him a free shot at goal. The second speaks for its self. Inexplicable decision to go with his foot when it was easier to use his hands.
Having said all that was surprised JM did not change things in the first half. Dropped Dier back into a back 3, made substitutions, had Son and Moura stay wide to stretch their back 3 or force the WBs to drop back which would have given use more control in midfield. He had to see now that Dier and Sissoko cannot be the CM 2 especially against the top teams. NDombele has to play there.
Son was stupid but a Red Card was harsh. If CAR are going to continue reviewing possible Red Card incidents players are going to exaggerate their reaction( as Ruidiger did) and you’re opening a new can of worms.
Depressing that elements of the crowd thought the best way to react to that incident was with racist abuse. First time 3 crowd announcements made about racist abuse has happened and it happened at our ground against this lot. Drepressing and saddening.

This! Why in the fuck are we playing those two when we finally let the purse strings out?!?

I’m livid.
Yep they need to be given a chance now. None of the starting line up were bought in the last 3 windows & it shows. Team needs freshening up & all 3 summer signings need to be starting when fit

We should enjoy Champions League while we can. Because after this season, we won't play it for a long long time. Some of our key players are not as good as they used to be and show signs of being over the hill (Vertonghen and Alderweireld comes to mind). We're in for a very painful rebuild.

We need so many new players. A new goalkeeper, new wing backs, a new central defender, a new defensive midfielder and some other quality players. We got too many passengers.

Ndombele was the only footballer out there today. Yes its easier to blame our worse players but Son,Moura,Dele and Kane, our stars, did nothing or in some cases even less.
Sissoko probably completed more percentage of passes that all of them four together.
And yet he is still lampooned. I'd rather have him, giving 100% that the other tossers giving very little. At least he looks as though he cares. He may not be easy on the eye but at least he seems to give a shit!

How can you say emboldened? They’ve always existed and now are much more likely to be picked out and taken to task over it. Emboldening is what used to happen, i.e. nobody talked about it and they carried on

look this isn’t the thread for it, D&D is the place but the rise of the right, nationalism, EDL, Britain First etc has made them feel like they can be more open with their disgusting views. It’s a sad sign of where society is right now and where it could be going. Anyway let’s hope they are identified and made very public examples of by the club and press.
