I think some are being too harsh with Romero... it's a Derby they psyched up for the game. I'm proud of everyone of the players. Destiny is young and he will learn from this. Romero went for and got the ball... I'll give him the benefit here.
Nah, his head was lost before that incident already. If it wasn't that incident he would have had another to get sent off. He lost his cool. He's actually still young for a defender and leader of a team, so he will do a lot of learning before he irons out that side of his game

A complete disaster but a fairly noble one.

After the turgid toss of Conte and Jose I'll take the odd battering if it means we continue to play the way we've been trying to.

Rather lose 4-1 playing like we played than 2-1 parking the bus
Exactly we play to win. The reason we pushed so high was because we had less players, so make the pitch smaller so we can still press. We took a chance because ya know, to "dare is to do" ain't it ? We go down swinging. Coys

Agree but Tbf Udogie could have gone in the 18th min for that two footer. You’d expect a lot more from one of your vice captains tho. Really disappointing.
One of them just had to take the sting out the game! Keep the ball for 5 mins, instead we got caught up in it all. They will learn.
Hopefully we can muddle through until Micky and Romero are back.

I agree with Hoddle too. Playing that high line with 9 men is dumb. Liverpool had 9 against us and we struggled to break them down and got an OG in added time. Chelsea were able to walk goals in here because we played at the halfway line with 2 men fewer and no pressure on the ball. Just dumb.
Liverpool had all their starters in defence and brought on Trent Arnold and Konate to help while our back 4 included Dier (0 PL starts), Hojbjerg and a RB at LB. We didn't have the personnel on the pitch nor on the bench to do what Liverpool did.

It’s the Van de Ven injury that will actually be the biggest set back from this, without his pace the high line is suicidal, Dier is more than capable of standing in for Romero as long as VDV was there.
I’m worried the Maddison one could be a nasty one too. I know he came back on but they hooked him quickly enough to make me think he was still in pain.

In a weird way, that second half has eased my first half creeping depression wrt injuries/suspension.

Not great and lets hope/pray for miracles of course but all those who came in were f'ing immense.

It was a privilege to watch them work. Even with a couple of injuries, all might not be completely lost...

I really think we should not underestimate the professionalism of Dier, Højbjerg and even Skipp. These guys have not been playing, getting loads of stick but delivered when called on. That takes great professionalism and mental discipline.
Well done boys

I said early on I'm less bothered by the result as long as we keep playing our game and learning and developing, easy to say at the time but as it happens I still feel that way.
Sod the result it is a one off but we learned quite a bit about our squad and how much fight they've got. Without our two centre backs we're looking at a tough time for a while but with eleven men the team we ended with will still be a force to be reckoned with.
Vicario was so unlucky with the penalty too.
Long long way to go.

I love Ange's style of football, but playing like that with 9 men is just stupid, think we all can agree on that. Even with 10 it is naive
We play defensive under Conte and the result would have been the same or worst and the players don't play with the same spirit, especially going forward

First and foremost. The fans were fucking unreal. That support was levels above anything we've seen so far in that stadium. Massive respect right there.

Romero and Udogie lost us that game. Romero lucky to still be on the pitch for a kick out then does what he did moments later. Udogie should have been sent off aswell. Can't be too annoyed with the second yellow as we were down to 10 and it was a desperate challenge.

The players left on the pitch along with the subs were fucking unreal and deserved much better.

Weird feeling as we lost 4-1 but with the fans, the chances we made, the bravery, could have easily got a point.

The fans support most importantly show how much we believe in the team and Ange.

We could have equalised. Liverpool had no chances. And yet Liverpool and us both lost at the final outcome. I'll take Ange option. Comes end of season he may well be right.

Wolves and at least one if not two games after, depending on how long Romero gets suspended for. VDV I very much doubt will be back any time soon.
Romero will be banned for 3 games. Udogie only 1.

Against Villa I would imagine a back 4 of Porro, Dier, Emerson & Udogie.

Hopefully Davies is fit for Wolves and we can play him central with Royal at LB.

Tbh I know the team gave it its all , but this could’ve been easily avoided. We should’ve easily won this game. The first 20 minutes showed that we were the superior team, Romero stupidity really cost us here. Not ti mention the injuries just hurt more because we couldve easily rebounded from this defeat in the next few games. But not having VDV , Romero, Udogie, and maddison maybe the turning point in our season unfortunately where we start to bleed points. I really hope I ak mistaken
