It's not an overreaction. This is the most disasterous campaign finale in living memory. We were 10 points clear in 3rd, and we're going to finish a distant 6th now.

In any other circumstances Redknapp would have been sacked weeks ago. 1 win in 9 is horrific for a team our our undoubted quality.

The disappointment of this season will far exceed Lasagnagate. It's as close as we get to a relegation experience, as it'll cause all our top players leave in the summer and our version of Alex Mcleish to come in as manager.

Ritchie, I can totally see where some people are coming from, and picking apart what has gone wrong is natural, no problem with that, but we have come a long way in a relatively short space of time, finishing in the top 4 is harder than it looks when anyone can beat anyone in this league at the moment, the heads have gone down and have failed to be picked up again, but we need to remember how good we actually are and not get carried away with the doom mongers, knee-jerkers and those with ulterior motives.

For the record, i still think we'll finish 4th, quote me on it, if I'm wrong I'll add it to the massive pile of things I've been wrong about in the past.
Perhaps people are struggling to come to terms with the fact that we seem to have hit the limit of a capability in competing for CL but not being able to cement a place - people have become used to steady improvement over the last 10 years and now we seem to be plateauing without having made the final step up, which I still maintain is nigh on impossible without us being able to generate a lot more money. One of the ways (maybe the only other way?) we might make that final step whilst living within our means is by unearthing the next Sir Alex Ferguson/Arsene Wenger - a manager who is just made for the club and knows his stuff. It's increasingly apparent that Harry is not that man and thus we have to make the change to try to continue our progression.

But we've fallen out of the CL places at just the wrong time! Whilst HR has given us some great moments it must be remembered that he has been talking himself up for the England job since South Africa 2010. I don't condone personal abuse at all and never will but it is easy to see why fans are frustrated when you look at our collapse (and before you accuse me of over reacting, no other word describes it) and our collapse last season at the same stage it is obvious lessons have not been learnt. The key squad members are generally too old to remain effective over 38 games. We needed a striker in January 2011 never mind 2012 and it cost us. Jelavic at Everton, Cisse at Newcastle? We were top three by some distance and we ended up with Saha and Nelson. Not good enough.

The fact of the matter is we're in a result's business. Even in the days where we perennially finished 8th/9th this run of form would NOT be good enough.

Shit results = the sack. No matter what business you're in. The only other people who get rewarded hugely for failing spectacularly are bankers. Their bonuses are huge regardless.

Every fucker else has to live in the real world. If you do shit work you're out. Simple as that.

I believe that one win in nine is pretty much the definition of a crisis for any team in the top flight.

Actually, the investment banking arms of most banks did exceedingly well during the finacial crisis, with the Barclays investingncial arm increasing profitability by 150% during thatvperiod. Most financial firms actually cull their bottom 10% of investment staff every year. So even if you made the firm $5 million you would still be sacked if it wqs less than 90% of your colleagues.

I fucking hate these posts. Lets all be grateful for ever more and if you dare complain or air your view you are not a true fan blah blah blah. If someobne offered us this at the start of the season blah blah blah........ Fact is we pissed away a 13 point lead, had we been offered that at the beginning of the season would you have accepted being 3 points off 4th with 4 to go? Fuck no. So stop talking cack and look at what HAS happened and get out of your small time mentality. It is precisely because of posts like this and fans like this that we will never be big time in my lifetime. Because we should be grateful. Because we should not dare dream. Because we are spurs and we always do it the hard way. Absolute tosh. We'll talk again once we finish 6th and you can tell me then if you are happy. If by some miracle we do finish top 4, doing it the hard way will not mean that we should necessarily be proud. All it means is that we will never have the mentality to do things the easy way and by making the early season dominance a foundation for success.

Out.

Great post. Bet I've invested more time l, money and effort than the OP ten times over.
2012 has been disgusting and Levy, Arry, players etc come our of it with no praise whatsoever.

These are all paid millions to achieve. Fuck em, their losers at Sport

Load of sanctimonious bollox. This implosion, this snatching of failure, is the worst I have ever witnessed with my own eyes from a Spurs team. They have the quality, they had the momentum and a huge advantage and this is it. The single worst collapse in top flight history.

It's a big bag of cold shit. I really wouldn't expect people to be happy at the prosepct of having their faces pushed into it.

As for us getting 4 wins from our last 4 games and miracles occuring forget it. This group can't hold onto a double digit lead. There are no miracles coming.

Absolutely heart-wrenching end of the season and bewildering. That this squad, with its quality can do this, it should strike terror in all our hearts. We're used to this but with the likes of Nethercott, Thatcher and Mimms. To achieve such levels of suck with these players - we're through the looking glass here people! There are no limits any more. Anything goes.

I'm not trying to be ungrateful of the good times we've had recently, far from it but it is obvious that since the England job came up the situation has changed and in the summer there will be a big turn around at our club.

New manager, players in and players out I would expect.

Its just a shame that we will lose out of CL football now (yes I have joined the ranks of those who can't see us qualifying now) and it will alter the shape of our targets and who we can keep.

Modric will almost certainly be sold now, I doubt both he and Bale but you never know.

Rodgers as manager perhaps? maybe it would be better for his transition not to have a CL campaign to deal with on top of the already big step up in pressure and spot light from Swansea.

If Newcastle have CL ahead of us why would the likes of Krul or Ben Arfa leave them for us? I don't understand why we didn't sign Cisse......but anyway that is spilt milk now.

We will need to replace all of our strikers in my opinion, with who I am not sure (the likes of Remy may have been dependant on CL if we could have signed them in the first place) but Adebayors wages will make that not happen and Saha and Defoe will not both be worth keeping (at most one will stay)

One or both of King and Gallas will need to be replaced as we can't carry two players of that age in the same position next season I feel.

A better goalkeeper to be a long term number one

There's a lot that needs to be done and I fully expect us to take a big step back next season and go to the Level Liverpool have been for the past couple of seasons (plus I fully expect Arsenal and chelsea to be much stronger)

I do think however that a new manager (especially if he is a perceived lower level or less experienced manager) comes in and has to manage a squad of less quality than we have had for the past 2 seasons it may be better for his and our long term future if we are able to rebuild slowly without the spot light and extra challange/games of CL next season (I don't want the AVB syndrome with our next man in charge)

If Rodgers comes in and we have lost one or two of our best players I will be expecting a transition season with us not really competing for top four but hoping to gain a Europa spot and a cup run or two. I will be happy enough of the new guy creates a settle squad full of players who play good football with a higher level of organisation and work rate, players who want to play for the club and look committed to the cause.

This season is increasingly loooking like a write off, personally I blame Levy's lack of spending, Harry's lack of focus on the job once England came up and the players total lack of passion and desire but that will all be irrelevant come the end of the season and we will probably have to take two steps back to take three forward and I for one am already accepting this and somewhat excited to see what the next stage is for our club and our new management team

Oh yea and I expect great things from Harry at England, I have no doubt he will regret ever being tempted by the job when he writes himself into the record books as the next Steve McClaren or Graham Taylor

Not the players, not the staff, you lot. We all know Spurs fans are the ficklest of the fickle, but over the last few weeks even my jaded and calloused brain has been shocked at the bile and absolute guff being spouted on here, if i was told in the summer that with 4 games to go we'd be in with a great shot of 4th and a slim shout at 3rd, I'd be pleasantly surprised. Yes we've imploded a bit, we've seen some poor performances in comparison to how great we were this season, but it's not terminal, we're far from in 'crisis', stop being so bloody dramatic.

We've been spoilt, we were tipped as title contenders, it was silly but we actually had a very slim chance, we couldn't take it (who knows what could have been if we took points at the Etihad), but while the title challenge fizzled away, what it left seems to be an awesome sense of entitlement and expectation. What started as 'we could get champions league if we're lucky' turned into 'we should be challenging the elite, despite the gulf in finances', we aren't going to become one of the big guns overnight, it will go well, it will go badly, but we have a chairman who is looking at the long game and a team who can beat anybody on their day, we beat AC Milan last year, anybody remember that?

Don't get me wrong, i don't like Redknapp, never have, but then i don't like Mourinho or Fergie either, no matter how you feel about them you cannot doubt their talent or the fact they get results. Lets not forget, this season we have played some of the best football I've seen a Spurs team play, Redknapp was our lord and saviour, you cant argue that he hasn't been hugely responsible for dragging us out of our perennial mediocrity, i don't know if anybody knows but we had taken 2 points from 8 games when he came in, that's true that is. Nobody saw such a dramatic slump coming, nobody knows quite how the England debacle has affected things, so how about you stop pretending like you've always hated him and this was obvious and he's the worst thing that's ever happened to anyone ever. We could be Aston Villla fans, we could be West Ham fans, hell we could be Darlington or Portsmouth fans, grow up and notice how good we have it, you all make us look like the millionaire who whines about how crap his life is because his Aston Martin has a broken tail light.

We've only just fallen out of the champions league spots for the first time in ages, we've got some of the most talented players we've had in years, talent doesn't just disappear, it will come to the fore again, we don't need dramatic changes, not yet. There is so much to play for, yes we've lost a few games we shouldn't have, lets not forget how many other big clubs have fallen to QPR over the last few weeks (and the fact it clearly wasn't a free kick, but the whole victim mentality was overplayed last week, cant do it again). Yes, its been crap to watch, it's been frustrating, things have gone wrong and we shouldn't have lost such ground on those around us, but it's the reaction of the fans which is making us look like a laughing stock, you don't know how good we really have it.

Have you lot forgotten what it is like to be Spurs fans? We never do anything the easy way, that's what makes it sweeter when we finish the roller coaster on at the top. You want consistent boring victories? Be a Celtic fan, go watch Real Madrid, if you cant take the rough patches without resorting to baying for blood or spazzing out like a retired Major reading the Daily Mail, pick another team, hell, pick another sport. We can do this, nothing is broken, its just a little dented.

TL;DR- Stop behaving like spoilt children and put the toys back in the pram long enough to support the team for the biggest 4 games in a long while.

Get lost, with 10 games to go we was 10 points clear in third since then the club has had it's biggest humiliation in fucking years if ever, you saying we should be grateful, because we are having it so good? We haven't just imploded a bit, we have had catastrophic fall from grace. The fans are the way they are no, because of this 10 points clear of the scum with 10 game to go.... this is what is killing everyone, not where we thought we was going to be at the start of the season.

It is not the fans that are humiliating the club, it's that **** of a manager and his over inflated ego and what is happening on the pitch that is doing the real humiliation.

At work, everyone else is laughing their asses off at us and taking the right piss, because of them over paid bunch of ungrateful, over paid layabouts, yeah we really have had so good.... Shut up

I kinda get where you're coming from with this post but try not to be so dismissive and rude about people being fed up with how it's going.

We were in 3rd place because we deserved to be and this is the best team we've had for many a year.
Let's not use the fact we've under achieved for way to long to not recognize we're a lot better team now and should therefore have much higher expectations.
There's nothing wrong with wanting something that for a change is very achievable.

We're all entitled to our opinions and lets try and respect that.
At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, we ALL want the same thing.

It still bugs the life out of me earlier this season when Harry had a pop at our fans for having an opinion.
Remember whatever happens when he is gone we will still all be here so let's try and stick together.

Before the start of the season I predicted we could finish anywhere from 4th to 6th and when had our good run of form, I said we were due a bad patch of form, so I think I've been pretty grounded. I've been pretty supportive of Redknapp even though I didn't think he was the right choice but he doesn't help himself by talking shite and constantly contradicting himself.

This is very close to not being a bad batch, but half a season

Spoilt? We have been relegated before, does that mean we should be grateful we haven't been relegated again? Bullshit. It's not the fact we are 5th that I'm pissed off about. It's the fact we had 3rd sewn up and threw it away.

Harry now blaming lack of squad depth is also bullshit, ever since we qualified for the champs league we haven't exactly gone for it in terms of top players like we all expected. Since buying all his best mates we have spent next to nothing to progress. Yes Harry will get you out of trouble but will never be good enough to manage at the top level.

Id love to be spoiled, by the way. but to be spoiled, we'd have to get accustomed to success first. 1 trophy per decade isnt being spoiled, its a rare treat.
