Agreed. I think Diarra is the better player but Parker would be a decent option. Can't see us signing both so this is either putting pressure on Diarra, or that deal has fallen through.

Parker was outstanding last season in a crap team. Personally I think he's a better option than Diarra, has an all round better game. He also gives us another home grown player. I think him and Modric will work well in centre midfield

Shift out Jenas, Wilsion and loan Livermore? Would leave us with plenty of options for leauge and all the cups plus cover for injuries. Probally wont happen but the following looks like a strong midfield squad!

Maybe people are upset that he spurned us in favour of Newcastle, Chelsea and West Ham - despite claiming to support us.

Parker is an upgrade on both Jenas and Wilson, he would be a very useful addtion to the squad. Its a long season and injuries can bite hard at times having someone of his quality around is never a bad thing.

If (big if) van der Vaart plays from the right more often than not, allowing Modric to play a more advance role that would leave 2 CM spots for a combination of Sandro, Hudd, Diarra or Parker. Not inconceivable to sign both Parker and Diarra in that case.
