My most wanted signing this summer..

When Poch and his team is finished fine-tuning his physique and aggression we will have a younger Dembele in our team.

dembele is special don't think you can fine tune to have the level of technique and strength dembele has with the ball

That's true, you don't get that slick on the pitch without having special talent.

What I meant was what he brings to the team would be kind of what Dembele brings, including the dribbling skills, but that doesn't mean he will look as good doing it.

You absolutely had me up until the Dembele thing. Not that he can't evolve into that kind of role (I think he can and will) but he has so much more to offer in the final third than many seem to credit. My belief is that it will be primarily for that area of the field we'd be bringing him in. Poch will turn him into a monster goals/assists wise imo (though his numbers are already pretty damned good tbf).

All this talk of Barkley as a Dembele replacement, if correct, would actually makes me slightly less excited for his signing. Genuinely feel we're sorted for that position long-term already with Winks (so underestimated), and potentially Onomah too. What excites me about Barkley is what he can bring to us in the final third. This is the area where we are crying out for further options rather than CM.

Imagine Poch has the same affect on barkley as he had on Dembele, we'd have a hell of a player

Barkley isn't going on their pre-season tour to Tanzania. Apparently has a groin injury.

Any reason why they are going to Tanzania? not as lucrative as the US, far east or wherever else most teams go. Nice spot though!

As mentioned in the itk thread, Barkley is now only in 1 remaining preseason photo on Everton's media. He was in this photo next to Barry yesterday which has now since been edited and/or deleted from the official site and twitter. A poster on their forum states the original can be found on the getty images page: http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/event/...sion-at-usm-finch-farm-on-picture-id811783542

Not crazy, but a bit odd to utilize the whole photo originally, then crop it down on their site and then delete it from twitter.

The price seems to be the only reason why we haven't signed him. Suspect it will go deep into August unless Everton drastically change their price. They won't want to lose him for nothing in a year.

I remember Barkley having a fairly decent game against us (unfortunately for him he came up against the best defence in the league), so I watched his highlights from the game...

I'm even more convinced he would be a success for us and it's also convinced me that this isn't a player with nothing between the ears.

Look how he is constantly looking to get his teammates behind our defence, move the ball at a quicker tempo, play one-touch, skip past his marker, now imagine him alongside the likes of Dembele and Wanyama in the centre with Eriksen, Kane, Alli and Sonny moving into those spaces he's pinpointing. Very confident at dropping back and taking the ball off defenders too.

Also, this isn't a player who sits back and admires the pass, he's looking for the return or he's working hard to track back and put a tackle in. Absolute certain he'll fit into Poch's press and intensity.

I honestly think Koeman has taken the hump with him because he is always expecting more as he is the player everyone is looking to for that something special or extra and he is unable to do it as consistently with those around him. Well, he won't have that extra pressure on him with us because we have Eriksen, Kane, Son, Lamela and Alli who can all produce, so the burden is shared. Secondly, those same players should be able to help him increase those goal and assist tallies, which are very respectable.

Yep, I'm onboard with this signing.

Now don't get me wrong I want us to sign him but there are also a few examples in that video of why he's been criticised by Everton fans. Lots of taking chances on the ball when he doesn't need to and especially in deep positions where he can and will lose the ball (we want our players to take chances and be brace on the ball but not in silly positions), holding onto the ball too long and not releasing it and possibly not following his managers instructions.

Yet everything looked to be going through him in that video. Previously I though he could play in a midfield two (like Dembele perhaps) but not now. If we sign him we will get him to play like that further up the pitch. He's not being bought as a central midfielder on that evidence.

I couldn't go to that game so missed seeing him in the flesh, which is a shame as I could then give a much better view of him. But watching the compilation I couldn't help but think that in an attacking sense it was almost like an audition for us.

Say we sign him and no one leaves. Where does he fit in to the starting XI? I think he's a talented player but he turns 24 this year. There are clearly flaws in his attitude which are holding him back. Dele has only just turned 21 and has already achieved way more than him. We all appear convinced that Poch can turn him around where others have failed.
