Barkley is a no-brainer:
Definately evertons go-to man and their best player.

Only downside is he was invisible in some games. Maybe because of teammates, motivation or just part of what he brings.

But we are not looking at strengthening our first team, but strengthening our squad. He will do that, and when in form he will probably start.

At a price of one third of comparable targets..

Buy now.

I remember Barkley having a fairly decent game against us (unfortunately for him he came up against the best defence in the league), so I watched his highlights from the game...

I'm even more convinced he would be a success for us and it's also convinced me that this isn't a player with nothing between the ears.

Look how he is constantly looking to get his teammates behind our defence, move the ball at a quicker tempo, play one-touch, skip past his marker, now imagine him alongside the likes of Dembele and Wanyama in the centre with Eriksen, Kane, Alli and Sonny moving into those spaces he's pinpointing. Very confident at dropping back and taking the ball off defenders too.

Also, this isn't a player who sits back and admires the pass, he's looking for the return or he's working hard to track back and put a tackle in. Absolute certain he'll fit into Poch's press and intensity.

I honestly think Koeman has taken the hump with him because he is always expecting more as he is the player everyone is looking to for that something special or extra and he is unable to do it as consistently with those around him. Well, he won't have that extra pressure on him with us because we have Eriksen, Kane, Son, Lamela and Alli who can all produce, so the burden is shared. Secondly, those same players should be able to help him increase those goal and assist tallies, which are very respectable.

Yep, I'm onboard with this signing.

No doubt in my mind that we'll get him, question is when. Would like him to ideally get a good pre season in under Poch

He can dribble which is what we don't really have in the team. For that if we get him for £25 mil i'd be happy.

He may not get any other options Everton don't want him it's a world cup year
He could refuse a move and stay put. Depends of course on how important his international career is to him, granted.

Waste a year of his career at 23 even with out a World Cup I can't see that happening.Fact is if he comes to us it seriously heightens his World Cup chances even if he only plays Say 1 in 2 games ,we are literally England's feeder club.

Well, if Swansea want £50m for Sigurdsson, Everton will definitely look for the same for Barkley.
Swansea can't replace Sigurdsson if he leaves and will be short odds for relegation. Everton have already signed alternatives to Barkley in his position and are unaffected whether he leaves or stays, apart from they can make £25m now or nothing next Summer.

Great find. This vid is a bit of a game changer for me. They say you can make anyone look a worldy in a YouTube compilation but this kind of more understated video taken from a single game away at tough opposition can be more insightful.

For me I can see in this exactly why Poch wants him, for me there's clearly a quality footballer in there and one that has the attributes to do well in our system. Confident, good pressing, head up, good dribbled with a good turn of pace. Made some quite dangerous crosses too.

Could imagine him linking well with all of our attackers whilst bringing that burst in transition/ ball carrying Sissoko was supposed to bring.

Get it done Levy and let's see what Poch can do with him!

I'm taking that as it's looking good but he's still a bit too expensive as he also did the emoji of the dollars face.

Fingers crossed we can tie this up soon.

I think people are both overestimating and underestimating Barkley here. He was not "Everton's best player" (he just went to United for boatloads) but if 20M is true we could be getting a rare bargain in this market. I've compared him HERE to a similar hopeful from last year in Sissoko (stats from Newcastle 15/16 show he was never going to be) as well as Eriksen, Dembele and Alli.

Barkley is a weird mix of Eriksen's passing (but not as good), Dembele's dribbling (but not as good) and Alli's lack of defensive contribution. I wouldn't look to Barkley to score many but he could easily come in second with assists in the side next year which is no small thing and give Eriksen a rest when needed.

For a more indepth look into Barkley from an Everton supporter reflecting on him along with a Spurs supporter I'd check out the latest episode of this podcast - just a few minutes in.
