On his day, Barkley can be a cracking player. If he does join us, poch has to find a way to get him to play at his best more consistently and I believe poch can do that given what he has done with our squad, and for about 20-25 million pounds in this crazy market, I think Barkley would be a very smart signing.

Despite the fact there seems to be a lot of indifference to Barkley on this forum, you can guarantee if Arsenal nip in and sign him, that those same people will be castigating Levy for too much haggling or something similar
Probably because despite indifferent views from fans Poch wants him, and it would be a case of Levy not getting Poch the player he wants (again). Not sure why you dont get that.

Anyway, lets see what happens.

Everton have left him at home, while rest of squad have now flown off for pre-season matches.
That in itself is a clear indication they are ready to sell him.
As for the Arsenal link, that's nothing new. Was being reported at that same time we were being told we won't stump up £50 million for him.
Personally I don't see Arsenal offering that much for him either. And that Twitter account that was used to suggest they are going to rival us, is just another of many dodgy transfer accounts.

What I don't get is fans saying they are underwhelmed at Barkley and then moaning that we haven't signed him. If I was underwhelmed by a player I wouldn't be bothered that we didn't sign him. But I guess I don't have a problem with Levy not spunking £50m on a player entering the last year of his contract....if Arsenal want to do that, good luck to them.

If he goes for £50m I think most people would give Levy and the Club a pass, he's not worth that on a 5 year contract IMO.

But if he goes for reasonable money I dont think its out of the question that fans question why we weren't able to get the deal done. And Levy's obviously a main player in that.

It's irrelevant if anyone on here rates him or not.

I think a lot of people have reservations like myself, but we are fully aware that the manager wants him and he really can't be any worse than Sissoko.

It's more about being concerned about DL pissing off Poch.

Think he'll be a very good addition, Poch can help him progress further no doubt. Do most people's reservations come from Koeman calling him out last season? Before that I don't remember much negative questions over his ability.

He's one of the thickest players in the division.

Poch might be able to work some savvy into him though...might.

Think he said everton are still asking for too much
Or Barkely is asking for too much.

It's odd we always hear it as the selling club wants to much but it could just as easily be the player.

He did turn down a rumoured 100k p/w deal with Everton so I wouldn't be surprised if he's looking for similar elsewhere.

Quite so, quite so. Pair that up with one of the strictest managers when it comes to muscle/body fat ratios. Ai ai ai, there is work ahead for Barkley if he does move to Spurs.

For me: what is said above along with lack of defensive interest and knowledge, lack of positional awareness when not on the team in possession. Basically, everything fans held against Chadli.
