I expect teams are trying to get Keane on the cheap, both in terms of transfer fee and contract offer. This isn't helped by Redknapp, who at every given opportunity is stating Keane's desire to leave. This maybe seem as desperation on our part and the players part to manufacturer a move at any cost.

"Normal" world of living does not have much to do with the world of top level football - and I think you know that yourself. This argument of "what would you do in his shoes" is rather absurd - because none of us would ever have been in top earning Premiership footballer's shoes who are paid more in a couple of weeks than most of people are paid in a year.

What I decide to do affects just my family and myself. Someone like Keane demanding to leave the club and then coming back as damaged goods when the dream move did not work out for him affects tens of thousands of Spurs fans, the team, managers and the club. As is his refusal to lower his egotistic demands now when the club really needs to move him on after paying him handsomely for several years and rescuing him from the Liverpool nightmare.

But do the vast sums footballers earn really make that much difference to the situation? If you're getting £65k a week—let us say for the sake of debate—you're going to think long and hard before accepting (let us say again) a 50% cut. We're told Keane 'wants to play', but does he want to play that much?

And how do you know he's making 'egotistic demands' anyway?

When we signed Keane from LEeds, was there not a situation where by his wages were so high Leeds had to agree to pay the difference between what we would pay him and the stupid wage they had given him for a certain time just to get the bulk of his wage of their books?

Ironic that us giving him a larger wage than he probably warranted after his flop at Liverpool could end up giving us the same problems in our attempts to sell him now (although nothing like as bad as we do not need to get his wages gone to avoid administration etc)

The thing is the reason being thrown about why we are letting him go is because he wants to play, if this is true he should then be willing to take a pay cut to get first team football ( if we are paying him stupidly high wage), if not then he is just in it for the money and not really caring about being on the pitch

miller alledgedly turned down brum so they still require a striker. if it comes towards the end of the window and keane hasnt got an offer from a london club he/his missus might have to rethink where he ends up

I don't think it really matters that much in real terms.

Whatever Redknapp was to say, it doesn't take a genius to figure out Keane is pretty surplus to our requirements.

Do you really think it would make much/any difference to our ability to sell KEane and for how much if Redknapp were to say 'We really want to keep him but if the right offer comes in....."

People can see for themselves the situation with Keane, he never plays and we are looking for another striker. The fact is it depends on how much a club wants keane and whether or not they are prepared to meet LEvy's evaulation of him.

Redknapp: If Keane goes it will be permanently

Harry Redknapp has advised Robbie Keane’s suitors that he will only move in January if the deal is a permanent one.

Birmingham and West Ham are said to be interested in the Irish striker but Spurs are reluctant to let him go out on-loan.

The Spurs boss warned: “If he wants to go, it’d have to be a permanent transfer. Robbie Keane would do a great job for somebody, but it’s got to be someone who buys him.”

I genuinely belief Keane don't want to leave, he was a bubbly character but after ditching us for L'pool, I've lost all my faith in him, I mean to regain faith he must score and sadly he hasn't...

And I'm sure you do
Come on, tell us how despite the various reports about Keane's demands handicapping the interest/serious movement from some of the interested clubs you, Archibald&Crooks here, know that those reports are totally wrong and Keane in fact is happy to accept deals that would be reasonable for players in his situation.

If you can't, perhaps you and SS57 should not sound so smug here?

So it looks like he's off to Birmingham. It's so sad how different my reaction to him leaving is this time, compared to when he left for Liverpool. Back then I was angry and gutted. Now it just feels like we're getting rid of dead wood.

What were the add-ons we promised Liverpool when re-signing him? Could it have been a factor for him not getting near the 1st XI recently?

Any update on Keane? Maybe Sunderland will come for him now - they will have the cash!

Keano is acting like he'd rather rot on our bench earning 65k a week than take a wage cut and get regular footy again. I guess it will be his last big payday so he's trying to get a big old wedge of cash one last time.
