great news for us. £7m is a great price, and hopefuly a few more follow Keane out the door and we get some new players in.

We've done well. Sadly for Robbie I think he'll do about as well as Mido at Boro.

I wish Robbie all the best at Birmingham. It was never going to be the same for him as soon as he left Spurs.

Keane makes the bench tonight, dropping him off on the way back?

If we sell Keane

Does that mean we are close with a new striker? Surely we wouldn't sell if we didnt think someone else was attainable.

I doubt it very much. We have 3 other strikers and Van der Vaart. I don't think it has any bearing at all about where we are with another striker.

Well we want to sell him but haven't actually sold him so you can't really read anything into it. Various paper stories seem to think we're either:

a. Waiting until we secure another before we let him go or
b. Waiting just in case we need him as a make-weight

BUT

I (and I'm sure the club) would get rid right now if £7m was on the table. We simply don't need 4 strikers with the system we play with VDV now and it's hard to see Keane valued at £7m as a makewight

Keane was going to be sold after we signed VDV but there wasn't enough time. We have enough strikers, they're just not good enough.

Good luck to Keano.

Hopefully we also shift the other three strikers and buy a couple of half decent ones.

it doesn't make any difference.vdv has replaced keane already.

Exactly, and Keane's hardly featured anyway this season so it's not like we're going to miss him. Although we need another striker, I don't see the point in getting one until we sell Pav or Crouch - we don't need 4 strikers plus VDV.

With VDV's arrival Keane is truly surplus to requirements.

With or without Keane our main priority in the transfer window is a striker.

Lets hope we find the right one.

Completely agree, he's actually quite a similar player, only much better

Agree that vdV has effectively replaced Keane, but I think they are very different players.

Keane was a poacher who had some link-up play. vdV in the other hand is a classic #10 with an eye for goal.

If we are properly moving to 4-2-3-1, we actually only need 2 fowards (though maybe also an upgrade on Gio as vdV's understudy).

Basically if we sign another forward this window I'd expect Crouch to go as well as Keane.
