Toby was sort of owed that money for playing so well at a discount for the last few years. He could have done a good job at ManU and arsenal if he wanted to stay in the prem.
I like Vertonghen but the club spent a fortune on Sanchez in the expectation Aldeweireld was off, and he is the future. If Sanchez (who probably can't speak english yet) strikes up a good partnership with Toby, Vertonghen is too good/expensive to sit on the bench every week, and not flexible enough to cover both CB positions. It is not looking good for him.
Rose doesn't seem to be trusted and will be pulling his hair out. He needs to leave ASAP for the good of his health.
Aurier is clumsy. That will not change. Plus his crossing was shocking today. We needed width to break them down, but he could not provide it against a weak side. But he has a good understanding with Sissoko and has had some good games.
Dier's main understanding at his peak was with Eriksen Those days are gone but I think he is still a very useful utility player.
Eriksen had a good game today, corners aside. But he is going.
Poch only knows why Wanyama is still at the club.
My questions from today are why Sessegnon and Lo celso were so ordinary against a 3rd rate side. They can't be tired as they haven't played. This was their big chance to make an impression. I'm prepared to believe they are both great players, but give me something!
Why the focus of GLC and RS? The latter played left wing back and was denied a goal by a superb block in the 1st half before reverting to LB in the 2nd half. GLC was energetic but had zero movement in front of them. When new players are introduced they can only play so well and are often reliant on those around them. In this instance our forward players were non existent. Had Son not stupidly got himself sent off, Kane and/or Alli should have been rested as they were passengers 99% of the game. Moura came on with a flourish but died a death after 10 mins.
