Go check out the youtube comments. It's hilarious. People saying we won't finish top half because we drew 1-1 playing our U20s for the most part in the first pre season match of a new regime.

Some fans really are fucking clueless.
They're not fans they're hangers on.

Second half was a lot more broken than the first but the kids that came in all locked comfortable on the ball, just not quite playing as a team. Could tell Devine just has extra quality, he’s going to be really good.

Tbf misplaced midfield pass left defence on back foot ,great finish by the lad.
I think it was Omole who just backed off until he was well in the area. A hell of a lot of centre halves just back off instead of confronting the player outside the area .

Why is CCV still here? It’s baffling, he’s spent years now turning up for pre-season and then going out on loan - we never seem to have made a decision on him, he never gets a run with us but is never sold... seems like this is just his role forever?!
He has never been given a chance because we too many CB's, so we loan him and manager cant give him a chance because when we have our CB crisis, he is never here to be given a fair shot

Then his loans spells our go very well and is given a new contract as a new club wants him

So.........any positives?
Are you sure you're in the right place to hear positives?

I kid. Nile John and Dane Scarlett were the standouts in the first half. Lucas with a great assist for Scarlett, Winks did well to get it to him. Second half was stop start, but Nuno made ten changes at once and they were all the kids. Some good play from them, despite one errant back pass leading to a good finish from the Orient player in amongst it. Harvey White, Jack Clarke and Alfie Devine I think were the standouts from the ten who came on.

So.........any positives?

Yeah:

Some first team players got valuable minutes in their goal of achieving fitness levels for the start of the season.

Some youth prospects got to play with and against professionals.

Dele looked fit and raring to go.

Joe Hart did a bit of shouting.

And I imagine a fair bit of cash was raised for Justin Edinburgh’s charity.

All in all a good day imo.

I loved it when one of the O's players started squareing up to the young lad on the left in the 1st half. Cisse? Dier went stomping over like a protective older brother.

Say what you like about his ability but his sense of commitment to his team mates can never be in doubt.

Anybody know why Ndonbele wasn't involved? Didn't think he was on international duty so a bit weird he isn't playing in these friendlies...

There were a few who didn't play today.
Might not be fit enough, but we have another game on Wednesday. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ndombele, Lamela, Sessegnon, Skipp ect play.

Dier and Winks played well
Sorry-

From the first-teamers, I thought Dier and especially Winks and Moura looked relatively sharp. Dele was putting himself about but I'm actually a bit worried about him. The youngsters were the ones breaking the lines but Dele was struggling on the ball a bit and his usual attacking movement wasn't there.

Is it true some fan spat on Winks?
I saw this on reddit. In the comments, people are saying if you slow it down it's a blonde girls hair blowing in the wind which looks like spit. Also no reaction from anyone suggests it didn't happen.

Edit, I've just watched it again and it's definitely a few strands of blonde hair blowing past her face next to her mouth.

Clip here if you're interested (I wouldn't bother, it's just a 4 second clip of Harry Winks walking into the ground

The kids are all far more comfortable on the ball than half our first team. They all look a bit lightweight/inexperienced still.

On the other hand, some youth team players stand out because they are physically more developed than others their age and then are passed by when others mature: it may be that Parrott will fall into this category.

Nobody has mentioned him but I was delighted to see Romaine Mundle get some game time. I saw him destroy a Chelsea junior team on Chelsea’s YouTube channel.
