Is it possible to buy out his contract and let him go? I don't know if there's any prior history for situations like this (big contracts etc)?

No problem as long as we're willing to pay the cost. It's pretty much paying all his wages, while he don't have to come in for work.
It's close to £20m

Can we not just keep fining him his wages for whatever reason so it effectively get his wages off the books 😀

The Dele deal was structured to potentially return us £40m. In reality it is going to return us fuck all, other than getting his wages off the books.

And wouldn’t have happened had redknapp not persuaded Lampard to take him but anyway, we have got to be creative to get him to leave the club

I would have thought one of the Saudi teams would be interested, but wasn’t it alleged recently that Levy is reluctant to do any business with them? I admire his moral stance, but he’s handicapping the club by doing so. Especially when all new incoming players are dependent on outgoing deals. Can we really afford to snub offers for players like Tanguy, who are almost impossible to shift?

Didnt we do that with Aurier?

Yeah we did. But wasn't his contract small compared to Ndombele. Just wondering if Levy has had any history of being willing to buy out big contracts of underperforming players or continue to fall in the sunk cost fallacy trap.

So bored with this..

All rumours but if true it’s hardly a surprise is it.

As Ange has said with Richy yesterday “he’s a very hard worker for the team and that is what I look for first and foremost before anything else”.

He’ll have taken one look at Tangy’s effort and application and thought “na mate you’re not for me sorry”

So frustrating. There was definitely some coverage of Tanguy training in pre season where he has another chance and looked good but again it sounds like he just doesn't have the work ethic to make a go of it. Wasting his footballing career accepting that he is likely to have made a lot of money out of us.

Such a shame. Undoubted skill and amazing touch.
From a psychological point of view….he’s obviously very insecure about something. Very afraid of some aspect of football.
It’s most probably his interpretation (or misinterpretation) around the pain of being outside his comfort zone.
Maybe he misconstrues the discomfort of covering so many yards on a football pitch, especially in a high press.
Or it could be he’s terrified of ‘being found out’ or ‘being seen to be letting the side down’ etc.
He’s not a bad human being (not many people are) but he’s riddled with some feelings of inadequacy or insecurity.
To label him lazy is too simplistic. There’s a fear that lurks within him…that won’t allow him to fully commit…because of the idea of pain that awaits.
The human mind is a complex beast…and it’s a real shame he hasn’t found the right specialist to unlock the puzzle inside his mind, that ultimately sets him free and allows him to fulfil his undoubted potential.

That’s why I keep reiterating that a mind specialist (a really good one) is an essential element to any top, professional sports team these days. Crazy to invest so much in players…and not invest into the continued cultivation of their minds.
Basic psychology is not always enough. These days you want people drawing from multiple practices and methodologies...eastern and western.
Or he's just lazy. Some people for all the talent in the World just don't wanna get off their ass and do an honest days work.

I appreciate the psychological analysis.

I can picture Ndombele stretched out on your couch spilling out his insecurities to you.

You: "Tell me about your discomfort in covering yards... ...is it a fear of commitment?"

I suspect we'll potentially need an Eastern - Western Fusion of techniques to unravel Ndombele's Rubik's Cube of emotions.

I doubt he’d not sell to Saudi Arabia.

I think it much more likely that Saudi Arabia is primarily after players with a name brand or an association with big social media clubs or success, which TN just doesn’t have.

Honestly can't see us being able to sell him and he seems quite happy to just collect his wages.
We will be lucky to get him out on loan again.
I can't wait until he has left even if it is on a free.

You know sometimes you need this to make sure in the future you do your due diligence

Listening to Vicario/Veliz/VdV they spoke of it being a massive opportunity

At this point Ndombele is taking the piss out of us

We aren’t paying him off whilst we can possibly get rid of him for a free or even a transfer fee. That’s why the loans are the only option stm.
Of course someone might try and buy but there is no incentive for them to do so. And of course for a transfer he’d be entitled to a loyalty payment if we choose to push him out.

I'm not sure anyone can motivate him. I mean Jose did one on one fitness training in lockdown at risk to himself (both legal and health), and that didn't work.
Jose gets a lot of shit but this was a real class thing to do by him I thought. Didn’t have to do that at all, could have just let him rot but he did his best to try and help him
