Why? Villa are very likely to get relegated. Surely he'll see this as the time to leave.
Too expensive, we can't offer CL, other more appealing clubs looking at him.

Even if Villa got relegated and no-one else came in for him this summer I don't think we'd come close to paying what they want.

We had the perfect opportunity to get him 2 years ago and Levy shat the bed. Just can't see it happening now.

I think the problem is we don't see him as a priority signing. We did put up the money for Lo Celso and Ndombele but we saw them as big signings.

Grealish I think is seen more as a player who would be around the first team but not first name on the team sheet. I don't really blame us for not putting in top dollar for him.

All the signals are that we don't have anywhere near as much money to spend this summer, though. And that was even hinted at before Covid set in.

The absolute only way I could see it happening would be if we flogged Ndombele to Barca/PSG for top money, no-one went in for Grealish, and we made him our absolute top priority and offered big money.

Just seems incredibly unlikely to me, especially given all the other holes in our squad that need filling.

I don't see it happening either.

If we successfully find buyers for a few of our players and can spend a bit I don't see Grealish as that top level player.

Yeah. Personally I think he's a brilliant player but I would much rather we spent 40 million or so on a top CDM and 30 million on someone like Milik, if we had 70m to spend.

They'll want silly money for him
and Levy doesn't do silly money or even sensible money at times.
60 million +.
I'd pay it but I don't hold the cheque book

The only way grealish is coming is if either Dele or Son leaves (neither of which I’d be against). He’s far more effective playing off the left than he is in the middle, where we already have NDombele, Lo Celso and Winks as technical players and are actually in need of a solid player.

I think your term "the ship has sailed" is incorrect.

He's available but too expensive for a player who won't be seen as a major signing.

I don't blame Levy for that.

You wouldn’t be against Son leaving?! And to make way for Grealish?!

I knew this would attract ire. I feel we’re soon to start circling an Eriksen style drain with him, his value isn’t getting any higher, his performances are at their peak (actually I’d say declining) and he’s hugely inconsistent.

I hope he makes a fool of me with his performances to come, but I think with what we’d get for him we could make several improvements to the squad that would leave us in a better position.

I didn’t mean I’d be happy to see him go with grealish the replacement, I meant I’d be happy to see him or Dele sacrificed to release funds for the squad.

As is basically every winger in the world.
