They’re not though, 90% to 81% is pretty big. Was the Dembele stat for his last season or total with Spurs? Because that would mean a higher % for 6 years in the premier league vs Ligue 1 for 1 year.

It’s really not big at all. It equates to about 0.5 successful dribbles more per game. It’s nothing. Plus we are comparing the stats of a peak Dembele to a 22 year old Ndombele. Both players are regarded as exceptional dribblers.

We can discuss dribbling itself and even compare but I think whats more relevant is how the dribbling affects a game. Dembeles kept the ball around midfield,Im hoping NDombeles will openthe field up more

I think people on here are underrating Mousa's line-breaking ability a bit here. Sure, he wasn't always the most progressive passer, but he was such a good dribbler and so physically strong that the opposing defense would have no choice but to collapse on him, which opened up space for the people around him. Tanguy looks a bit more well-rounded as a whole, but I don't think we'll be seeing someone with Mousa's dribbling abilities at Spurs for quite a while. He was such a unique talent.

Its a fair post but Dembele created very little,it was mostly more possession. But rarely created something in forward positions

Stats have some value but it only quantifies it doesn't qualify. There are intangibles in footie more so than many other sports. Those intangibles create discussions of ideas what happened and its not all in the stats. A completed pass is the same as another complated pass ? a dribble is the same as another dribble? Context is missing from stats.

The emotional ebb and flow of a player thread pre and post coital is a fascinating psychological dynamic.

Firstly the foreplay: desirable player is referenced as a potential target and groins collectivity fizzle. Then reliable ITK announce firm reciprocated interest and it’s drinks at the bar and awkward semis beneath mid- range branded sports jackets. Then more ITK confirms signing is highly likely and everything goes hard and gooey.

The intercourse: the signing is imminent and clothes that were once neatly folded on single lonely chairs are discarded across the floor while Neil Diamond plays tenderly in the background. Dry humping has now become a volcanic heat of frenzied sexual explosiveness while deep, passionate copulations are punctuated by brief checking of online updates. The passion reaches a crescendo of unimaginable joy- cynical men become young and daring again.

The aftermath: after a brief spell of monk-like catharsis, the questioning begins. The whole object of the original passion is painfully dissected, explained, compartmentalised, rationalised in clinical why and wherefores, of toing and froing, of disagreement and counterpoint. The original fizzling passion now a ghostly memory while somewhere far and faint, somewhere soft and half-forgotten, a lonesome trombone blows

You can draw whatever comparisons you want but one thing is for sure and that is that Dembele wasnt bossing elite teams in the champions league when he was 22. It's very exciting to imagine how good he will be in 4 years time.

He doesn’t overly remind me of any of our midfielders of recent times. Yes he has some elements in common with several of them, but his blend of agility, skill, awareness, robustness and dynamism sets him apart from all of them. Going back in time, I see similarities with Seedorf in how he moves and works angles, but everything I read about him suggests he’s not quite that attacking.

It seems he plays with energy talent power and confidence. He can lift a whole team. Hopefully he does. The team needs inspiration and belief and a confident player can impart that. Hallelujah I have seen that type of thing before.

Well I hope this comment comes back to haunt me, but I can’t see him being much of a goal threat. Obviously that’s not why we’ve bought him.

He does remind me of Dembele in a lot of ways, but if based purely on videos I’d say the player he reminds me of the most is Modric. The guy who assists the assist.

I think how much of a goal threat depends on how he uses his athleticism and what improvements he makes in the final third, he’ll certainly get into those positions and he’ll be hard to track but then so does Sissoko. At 22 it all revolves around his drive to improve.
