Can be good for us but like Lo Celso he is too injury prone. Still has time to prove himself.

I don’t see it. He was poor on the ball, and very weak. Sterling just brushed him aside at times

I just think because we won people are overrating his performance. During the game he was the obvious player out there who I think was found lacking at this level.

I just can’t see him making it here. He doesn’t seem to possess any standout attributes at all.
I fear you are correct. Sad as I had such high hopes for him.

A lot of it is low confidence. A few times yesterday he had the chance to burst forward and really run on but kept checking his runs. I wouldn't say he has any sort of electrifying pace though, certainly not in the Bale realms anyway.

Only 21 though with Royal 23 on the other side. I think everyone needs to lay off them a bit.

I thought for the most part Sess was really solid Defensively yesterday, but agree with him going forward. He always checked himself. It’s clear given all the injuries he has had and then being sacrificed last week amongst other stuff he is so low on confidence. Given a run of games though and I can see things turning round for him.

Hopefully Conte can unlock something in him to make that next step. I do think he is one of the players that he feels he can trust which will help.

he is 21 sure he has been out on loan - next week Reguillon comes back and most likely into the side - he has to be more assertive and aggressive in his play when he gets a chance it doesn't seem to be in his make up- he did ok yesterday but looked like a schoolboy who they had got out of the crowd the week before and that's not the first time - the question comes in the summer is he a good enough and reliable enough back up or preferably to compete for a first team place otherwise its time to move him on and look elsewhere if nothing else to be fair to him

I agree i thought he looked a mile off at times yesterday. Much better in the 2nd half for me.

I'm not saying by any stretch its going to turn out like this but you only have to remember how bad Bale was at the start. It could all turn around for him yet.

He was brilliant for Fulham.

If he could learn to play with his head up , he will see the bigger pic on the pitch . Thought he had a solid game today .

Again, like against Liverpool, he looked really good in defensive situations. Gave the ball away a bit though but really he’s still inexperienced at this level. If he wasn’t home grown I think we’d look to move him on in the summer but because we don’t have enough of them he will hang around unless we get a really good bid for him in the summer.

I think it’s a confidence thing. He needs more ‘balls’ … to go for it offensively. He also seems to be more focused on not losing possession than creating something.

We need a new LWB and a new RWB this summer as none of our current WBs are powerful enough runners or effective in the final 3rd.

A few times yesterday he had the chance to hit a hard tackle, and he backed out each time. Same as him limited opportunities to burst down the line. He needs to do more. A couple of clattering tackles, an assist or a goal could change his entire mentality. Hope it happens.

He was never going to be bursting up the wing all game yesterday.
We played a compact game making sure City didn't find a way past us before getting Kane on the ball to find the run of Son.

He delt with Sterling well, but did lose his man at times.
For me he did the job that he needed to do yesterday.

Both fullbacks were our weakest area, but still had at least a 6/10 game imo.

Spot on it's confidence. He certainly has the physical attributes and technical skillset to be a very competent premier league player. People need to remember what Bale was like before he suddenly gained that confidence, he spent most of the match touching his hair and looking lost. I'm not saying Ryan will go on to the heights of GB, but he has the potential to emulate the career of someone like Danny Rose!

Yep. Akin to the game against Liverpool he keep things pretty quiet down that side of the pitch. Was very pleased that Conte played him yesterday after amending his tactics against wolves etc. Think he’s a good player who’s confidence will come. Was happier seeing him at left back over Davies

Think he was solid enough. He has pace, intelligence, has a good delivery, and is the biggest goal threat out of all our wing backs.

If he stays fits and starts getting game time he’ll build confidence - it’s the only thing stopping him really pushing on imo.

Let’s remember where Danny Rose was at 21. He needs another year, injury free, with a Conte pre season, and a little bit of love.

This kid has all the physical attributes and skills Conte wants in a wingback. Conte and Sessegnon know it too. If anyone is going to ‘suffer’ under this manager it’s Sessegnon but there’s a chance he’ll come out of it the best wingback in the country - if he stays fit. Its all about mentality now and taking the knocks.

I remember Gareth Bale as a youngster not being able to take a knock and be willing to play through it. It took Harry Redknapp to recognise that and literally ignore his pleas to come off the field. To me it’s a similar issue with Sessegnon- he needs toughening up, tough love if you like. Up to him now.

At 21, Danny Rose was just coming to the end of a loan spell at Bristol City. This was before his loan spell at Sunderland and Villa. If you're writing him off at this stage, you really don't know much about football beyond Fifa.

He needs a period of no injuries and a ran of games IMHO.

Let’s not forget he kept Salah very quiet and Foden anonymous, two highly influential players, all off the back of a lack of game time.

But we need a world class LWB who will propel us into the top 4 and hopefully a title tilt now.

Sessegnon is for me an example of the way the club lost its direction in the transfer market. Spending £30M for an unproven teenager whose best position was not even clear was really not clever. If he'd been a £5M signing (like Dele was) it would be understandable, and in the bracket of signing players like Dawson and Reid, or Davies and Etherington, or Dele and Dier. For £30M we could have got Grealish the summer before last.
