Was always going to be one for the future. Why some fans were including him in our summer transfer business that was going to be for making a difference this season I don’t know?

Wonder If the hamstring injury is affecting him mentally. Seems so reluctant to open up and really go 100%

Another play without a natural position. It's like we bought a bunch of high price, with talent, projects in the summer. Meanwhile the structure of the squad was clearly crumbling yet we tried to apply band aids instead of deal with actual key areas.

Fucked if the summer window really was a mild mitigate disaster.

Yeah I said when I heard Poch say that he didn’t know whether Sess was a LB or LW that it caused alarm bells for me. Particularly as everyone seemed to suggest he was one of his top targets.

Sorry, but I just don’t believe that. If you have a top target then you should know exactly how you plan to use that player.

Not saying we shouldn’t have signed him, but in that case it’s an additional future signing for me and not core business.

It's been bothering me since I think about the third game into the season. Combine that with the fitness problems, the slow progression for all concerned into the first team and let's not talk about the loan for Clarke I think, it's just not a good look for all concerned again.

They (coaching staff) need to figure out what they want from Sess. (and the others) and quickly. Direction has been lacking the whole season.

Just imo I don't think Sess is a fullback - maybe a wing back, personally think he is another wide player (winger/wide forward) whatever the position is. Fingers crossed he gets some confidence and we get to see why the Fulham faithful loved him so much!

Yeah agree. Thought he’d be a good fit out wide with a back three, but then we ditched the 3 at the back with Poch quite a while ago.

Lets ne honest he played last few games and done nothing tbf ... he looks like a small meek, shy, out of place schoolboy in a Mans team. Offeres nothing, has no real awareness, doesnt attempt to take on his man always looks to go in side to do a side or most often a backwards pass. His awaness has been lacking so much, always going close to the closest player making it hard for them to pass to him. He looks like a small fish in huge ocean atm the moment, quite disappointed with him to this point so far as hes not even shown a flash of any of his talents

Feel a bit sorry for him. Poor sod getting thrown into the team now that we're playing like absolute dogshit

Not easy for him, especially when some are expecting a young Gareth Bale!

Davies getting injured hasn’t helped. I think we might have seen Davies at LB with Sess playing left side further up the pitch.

Thought he was decent today. Played some intelligent balls when he saw gaps but was understandably risk adverse.

once he builds confidence I think we’ll see him nail down that left back spot.

He’s 19, he’s had a bad injury, coming in to a team which is severely lacking in leadership and enthusiasm, plus management change. Yeah, we’re yet to see him knock it past a player and go for it with pace on the outside, but let’s give him a chance before we question his mentality.

I really think our past three windows have been nonsensical. We were at a point where we needed guys to come in and push others out of the first team, and we decided there were not players capable - in other words they were too expensive. And the summer window just gone? We bought potential, which would have been fine had we used the previous two windows to add quality to the first team. Failed again. Like we did when we didn’t buy a striker when we first got in to the CL under Redknapp. Not the players’ faults,it’s a lack of ambition by the club.

Sess is absolutely fine. He’s feeling his way into playing for us. The team has no confidence or consistency due to injuries etc, jose already said right now sess is a LW but in future could be a LB, but as rose and Davies are injured and supposedly Sanchez isn’t quite fit either then with having to play Jan CB we have no one else to play LB but sess and so far for a 19yr old he’s done fine.

Feel he’s definitely lacking the self belief and confidence. He needs the carte Blanche to play his own game

Sess with some interesting quotes from his recent Sky interview:
"(He [Mourinho] wants me to) be more positive on the ball as well. I've been a bit disappointed in myself, the way I have been playing recently. It's an honest assessment from me looking back at it.

"I'm usually a very positive player with the ball but the last few games I haven't exploited areas which I usually would. For the upcoming games, if I am involved, I will have to do better."

"I see myself at full-back long term"
----
Glad to see he's recognized he has been playing quite safe on the ball and hasn't really been trying to exploit space and take players on. This honestly could stem back to Mourinho's comments about him losing the ball too often post-Bayern. I think he's looked pretty solid defensively thus far (which is what I think we were all most concerned about with him) so I'm looking forward to seeing him find his groove offensively. I have a lot of faith in him becoming a top LB for us and I'm happy to see that he's been getting opportunities to play there.
