Guy is rapid. Well impressed so far.

Bring in Aarons and Ferguson and we’ll be set for the next decade.

RB - Aarons, Ferguson, Tanganga
LB - Sessegnon, Davies, Ferguson, Tanganga
CB - Alderweireld, Sanchez, Dier?/new CB, Tanganga, Davies, Eyoma?

youth, energy, pace and versatility right across the back 4.

he's always been a talented lad and a mainstay in the England youth sides. glad to see he's finally coming through, looks like he's played 50 games already

I wonder if the pace of this lad and Sanchez, either side of the wise head of Toby could be the way forward as Jan looks either injured or past it to me now.

Also seems to have leapfrogged past Foyth but it's early days so we shall see. . .

Indeed. Very promising start. Shown a bit more composure than Foyth. Hence why the latter might benefit from a loan. I can certainly see him being given a few more games at RB.

Lol. Only a bit more composure than Foyth?

Japhet looks light years ahead of Foyth in having the awareness and reading to spot danger and not give the ball away trying to dribble out in stupid situations

His height, body shape and speed made me think he was more FB than CB. And holy crackers, we need a RB atm.

Really lifted my spirits seeing another one of our own burst through. I hope that Tanganga and Jose form a great manager/player bond that opens the door for new blood coming through.

Watching highlights from last night and I'm so excited for this guy's potential.

Early days of course but it feels like we've signed a first-team defender ready to slot straight in to the starting XI, and by god do we need one.

So that's Tanganga & Parrott breaking through, Cirkin seemingly on the brink of getting his first appearance from the bench, and a new midfield signing in Gedson who's just turned 21 last week.

But, y'know, Mourinho has no time for youth...

One of the biggest arguments I had pre-Jose was the youth aspect of his couching philosophy, he definitely knows how to bring through youth and I think we will see a lot more of that with our financial situation. He is already well on his way to proving yet another myth wrong.

He has really surprised me and impressed me in two positions. Yeah he makes one or two mistakes but thats totally understandable and would ride those out. Seems an old head on young shoulders...

He seems less erratic than Foyth and adds more energy to our back line which is desperately needed

Sign of a good defender is he doesn't commit to early, this kid is gonna be really good if he keeps developing.

He reminded me last night of Micah Richards, back when he just broke through and had the world at his feet. Big, strong, fast and can play RB or CB.

Especially that run up the wing near the end of the 2nd half

He's certainly one of the top 2 Japhets associated with Spurs. Ever.
You're too kind good Sir.
Get a room guys!

He looked great in preseason and it's great to see him take his opportunity now. Has he signed his new contract yet though? Bit worried the exposure might see him get a good move elsewhere where he is guaranteed to play. Last nights formation struck me as an inverse of what Mourinho wanted to play after the West Ham game. He was doing the inverted full back when we were on the break and Sessegnon pushing up. Compared to Davis and Aurier.

Good on him any way nothing better than seeing Youth players given a chance and taking it.

Just watching the match again - Tanganga's decision making and execution is awesome. He's the best right back I think we've ever had and he's not even a right back.
