One of the ‘2’ in could have been the new assistant tea lady, we’ve just employed.

You could also argue it was because we let too many goals in. We were the meanest defence two years running when Poch first joined. Liverpool showed they are light years ahead of us defensively last year.

Part of that reason was also because we had so many of our midfielders unavailable for one reason or another throughout the season and as such, couldn’t provide the protection for our defenders that they gave in previous seasons.

But it will only be tougher for Betis Everyday that passes by without the player being sold.

They are not a rich club and have already invested in his replacement and in addition, if he doesn’t move during this window, they have to increase his wages.

We do have a lot to do on the face of it.

We have no idea how far down the line these deals are. They aren't signed until they are signed. History tells us that and despite the inside info of the top ITKs they don't always get it right.

But like you, my gut tells me we'll see Lo Celso and Sess in. Great additions they are and as long as we keep those that are important (Eriksen and Toby), then we've strengthened. Lose those two then there's more work to be done.

We still have deadwood to get rid of. It's taken years to sell Janssen but thankfully he's gone but work has to be done to get N'google out.

That's not even mentioning the FB situ. If people are content with selling both our last season starting FBs and replacing those with a promising wide forward who can play LWB then that's fine.

But for me. There's a lot of work to do.

Instead use the monies allocated to sign 2 full backs. I would also prioritse Dybala ahead of Lo Celso, if the interest in Dybala is real and Dybala wants to come.

Not sure i agree with this. They're quite different and Lo Celso has (in my admittedly limited knowledge) more positional flexibility

I'm thinking though, that given Sess and GLC are supposed to be practically done, with just medicals left to sort out, that maybe the fact they both haven't moved forward this week is more for logistical reasons and that it's been by choice on our end.

Basically I'd be more concerned if Sess had happened this week and GLC had gone quiet, but seeing as both haven't moved forward, maybe we are waiting until everyone is back from china...


I do share your anxiety though, time is running out.
