Not sure i agree with this. They're quite different and Lo Celso has (in my admittedly limited knowledge) more positional flexibility

Great post.

The press, or elements of it have been evident so far in pre season, and also in the few games at WHL.

Being back home with, not only an energised team, but a crowd that wants to be in the stadium v the dump at Wembley, will help massively.

Id hold your horses on that if I were you. A couple of the league games were very much like that at times last season (Huddersfield, West Ham) with lots of people around me in the south stand making no noise at all. The new stadium will help but it’s down to the fans to bother to sing in most part

I'm thinking though, that given Sess and GLC are supposed to be practically done, with just medicals left to sort out, that maybe the fact they both haven't moved forward this week is more for logistical reasons and that it's been by choice on our end.

Basically I'd be more concerned if Sess had happened this week and GLC had gone quiet, but seeing as both haven't moved forward, maybe we are waiting until everyone is back from china...

I do share your anxiety though, time is running out.
13 days to go, hope things really accelerate now.

Traditionally we've always been a club who do things late in the window and these signings aren't just for the coming season moreso the next 5 years.

Two years ago Aurier, Llorente (Foyth may have been last week too) both came with the clock ticking down although it was apparent we missed out on Barkley.

Three years ago Sissoko was a last minute big money signing.

Four years ago - Sonny was a late last minute deal.

6 years ago - Lamela and Eriksen came in late too.

We have signed big late before, it's not gunna stop ppl sweating a little.

Let's hope we get them over the line next week and then have a late push on Dybala or Bale

Fair enough if there’s a shed load of paperwork to do but a week ago all the ITK’s were very excited, now they’ve all gone relatively quiet which is never a good sign.

It was only Tuesday that Hercules said GLC was all agreed and that it was just paperwork and a medical to be done. We're not going to get daily updates from all the ITK's so just go with the latest info until we get a new update.

You guys need to chill out. It’s clearly hush hush time because things are close, as has always been the case (aside from last summer obviously).

I’ll be massively shocked if we go into the Villa game without having made at least two more first team ready signings.

Massive home pre-season sellout against Inter in 10 days, and I think they'll look to introduce a player or two at that game.

I think maybe the delay for also this deal and Sess is the fact levy has had his focus on bringing £320m into the club for the next 8 years from AIA... now he can focus on the transfers, both players have been away at international comps so would only be returning to training in the next day or two!

Agree, but it was actually last Sat he said that, followed by a CHILLAX on Wed.

I wouldn't particularly like it but you're right - as the clock ticks down, more compromises are made - the back and forth between the parties involved get quicker until a resolution is found. Obviously, doing this for 2 or 3 biggish deals would be a worry but the example from six years ago is a good one. 3 in a day wasn't it (two/three days before the close of the window).

Yep, first said on Saturday and repeated here on Tuesday:

It just seems strange to hear people say the ITK's have gone quiet and reading into what hasn't been said when we've been told that there's nothing to worry about a couple of days before.

People are thick and have short attention spans. If it isn't rammed in their face every five minutes they have a melt down. Hercules has said it's agreed. The player is still on holiday so wouldn't be surprised to see that progress next week. Imagine a lot of the behind the scenes arraning of visas etc will be progressing if fee is agreed.

Keeps the pages ticking over. We need over 300 for each sale now?

Sorry but i dont buy this still on holiday crap holding up a 60 mil move. Players have been known to fly outta international competitions to complete deals. Not that i think this deal wont happen but the holiday thing is just annoying me. My trust in every deal we get linked with is not great.

1, please tell me the last player that has been flown out of a tournament to sign for a player team?

2, just saying but if a player is on holiday with family or friends, don't you think, it's better to respect their wishes if they have requested a break like every other player is entitled too. if Lo Celso has booked a 3 week holiday in America, why would he want a 3-4 days interruption 2 x 8 hour+ flights to have a medical and sign some paperwork, when he could be enjoying himself with his partner/friends or family on the beach

This is better for us as well. The player needs to feel rested up and revitalised for the new season.

It's clear we have spoken to the player and he's keen to come. The rest of the deal needs to be completed between the clubs and his agent, a lot of that can happen without the player even needing to be present or on the phone.

It's what happened with the Ndombele transfer. Obviously we'd verbally agreed a package with the player before he went on holiday, then when he went on holiday he would have had his feet up whilst the clubs thrashed out the deal or his agent worked on a few more demands, etc. Once the player finishes his holiday he can then make a final decision as the clubs are likely to have agreed a deal.
