If we signed a proper DCM and played Lo Celso and Ndombele either side, with 3 from Kane, Dele, Son, Moura and Sessegnon making up the front line we’d be a much, much better side!

Though he's been poor and struggling to regain form, Dier can be that CDM for the moment until we're able to get someone in January.

Dier
Ndombele ----- GLC
Lamela-------------------------Dele/Moura
Kane

I agree though I'd like to see Foyth have a go there maybe with some support

I've seen nothing from Rice to make me think he's good enough to wear our shirt.

I partially agree. Whilst i rate rice higher than dier he is not good enough nor dynamic enough.
Not a chance we get him but how much would ndidi cost? We need a player like that.

appreciate the thought. saw a game with him recently where i watched v closely and he made 3-4 very good covering plays
Yeah, he's got potential but I think he'd make a better CB than a DM. He's just not quite dynamic enough for me. He's still young and learning and while he may become a good player, I think we need someone who's already there, rather than potential, in what is an important position for us.

This would be a worry with Rice, that he might become the next Dier. Shows loads of promise when young but when grown more, just becomes a bit too cumbersome for the role.

A bit like how Mourinho’s first Chelsea team played when they had makelele as DM and then a whole load of attacking players and creative/industrious midfielders ahead of them. We’ll struggle to find another makelele though!

Realised that cute tackle from Gio came in the same match that Winks nearly got two cards for mistiming his. Difficult to see what Winks brings to the No. 8 or double pivot that Gio doesn't, apart from a worse touch.

Yeah, I really don't see why Dele couldn't play in a front three. Sure its not his ideal spot but his best asset is his runs in behind. He could do that off either side of Kane just fine I bet. Allow us to regain control & tempo in the midfield by sticking 3 in there.
That’s where a mobile fullback would be very useful, allowing Dele to drift in field towards the box

Rice is going to end up far too big for the role he is currently playing. He’s what, 20? Lads still growing. Look at Dier to see where Rice is heading.

He should move back to defence imo, assuming he wants to go as far as he can in the game.

this is how I see him too. For me, he’s becoming a striker. His talent is in the final third, definitely not deeper

The deeper you play him, the more exposed that area of the pitch becomes, and the less benefit you get from his talent.

With this in mind, part of a front three should work, but he’s definitely central, so you need to compensate with width elsewhere

If he doesn't start today his confidence will be shot. It's almost a must start for him after his good performance on Thursday. Should be well able for 60/70 mins with maybe Skipp as back up.

If Eriksen starts ahead of him think it would be a poor decision give lo celso should be here for long term.
