He's getting worse every game. The fans are not helping him gain any confidence but he's a professional...

So what? That doesn’t mean he’s exempt from losing confidence.

The treatment of him is a stain on the club. Huge cheers when he got taken off then. Disgraceful.

He’s not very good at football - OK. But he’s wearing a Spurs kit. So support him.

I agree, the reaction to the sub is disgusting. Overall we are not playing bad but the croud is reacting to any mistake, not helpful at all.

So the chances he had first half

1) Kulu cut back: he kicked against his own leg.
2) Davies cut back onto the penalty spot: Out of the stadium

Not to mention defensively:

1) Nowhere for the first goal
2) on one of their attacks (although ruled offside) he was jogging into position and the pass through went by him because he didn't press their attacker.

Honestly if anyone defends this guy anymore they watch football with their eyes closed.

Tramezzani wasn't this bad.

Someone needs to shove this clip in Conte’s face

He shouldn’t have had been left vulnerable and exposed to all those crowd reactions, the fans were cruel for that but Conte’s role in this worse I think. He needs to take some responsibility and stop being so fucking stubborn in playing Emerson when it’s clear to every man and his dog he doesn’t suit the system.

It is disgraceful behavior towards him at the game, but also very predictable. Fans will turn against a player performing that bad over time. It's on Conte's hands.

He’s genuinely crap. I have serious concerns with Conte for keeping on picking him. There is no way on performances and ability he is getting picked

I hope he can work with a Sports Psychologist and potentially, a technique coach during the WC break. I don't dislike him as a man, I just think he needs a lot more work to be an effective player in this team. I live in the States and I heard a "Spurs" fan absolutely tearing down a Leeds players who was setting up to take a corner before they scored their 2nd goal and I can only imagine the amount of verbal abuse Royal endures every time he plays.

Not a great reaction at all for Royal going off and does reflect badly on us fans but I can't help wonder why Conte is persisting with this knowing the fans resentment towards Royal who incidentally must be rock bottom confidence wise.

We all (or certainly vast majority) accept he's ultimately not good enough for a career here at Tottenham and Conte must accept this too not perpetuate an already shit situation which isn't doing the team nor the player any favours.

It’s a total mystery how he keeps getting picked. Maybe Conte sees something we don’t? Maybe he sees the fans getting on him and picks him to support him as an individual?

Because his continued selection defies conventional logic. He’s not good enough. End of story.

Plus, it’s on FP for buying him over Tomiyasu, who would absolutely have a place in this squad/team

Needs to be dropped or play somewhere other than RWB

Genuinely one of the worst first team regulars of the last 20 years, I cannot fathom why he keeps getting picked. Sure, we don't have a world class alternative, but in no way is he better than Doherty, and I'd imagine there are several others who would be a better choice there just now.

Was he even that bad today? I would have taken Dier off for Doherty and shuffled Emerson across. Dier was obviously going to have a bad game from the minute he shanked a pass back to Lloris. One mistake always leads to another…

Yes Emerson makes his fair share but he shakes them off. I honestly think he’s showing a lot of mental toughness to keep playing through the treatment he gets. Never gives less than 100%

Feel sorry for him getting cheered off though
Yep unless a player isn’t trying / has a bad attitude that isn’t acceptable from our fans.

He was signed as a RB in a 4-3-3 for Nuno, maybe better for all parties if we move him on this summer but it won’t be this Jan I don’t think so fans need to sort themselves out and get behind him whilst he is still our player.

Seen him a lot in person in last few months and I’m adamant that Dier is the problem. He’s constantly pointing and shouting at Royal and has no trust in him to be where he should. Maybe that’s fair enough but it’s leading to Dier making a lot of mistakes as well.

His confidence is shot and the fans are hammering him, last few matches in south stand have been uncomfortable and there’s a bit of racism in there too.

Ultimately he’s not good enough and I’d want to see him moved on but we’ve had just as bad wingbacks in the last 5 years.

The reaction to Emerson today was embarrassing and shameful. I hope Conte calls out the assholes in his presser. It's one thing not to rate a player, but it's another to abuse the lad. He's trying his best. We need to question why Conte keeps playing him rather than directing boos and ironic cheers at a guy who is just trying to live up to the impossible pressure put on him. How on earth is he supposed to perform if all he hears is how shit he is. Doesn't help that he has Dier shitting the bed next to him every game either.

They won't care, they aren't real supporters in my eyes anyway. Zero time for any of them.
